Boustan Sabz mission is to create, facilitate and produce high quality agricultural products by using improved production and marketing innovations, value added production strategies and eco-friendly methodologies that enhance client benefits and satisfaction and assuming our social responsibilities.
BS operations leave a lasting positive impact by economically empowering local communities and farmers through creation of value chains and links with pre-qualified farmers, suppliers and other stakeholders who deliver daily to the industry quality seasonal fruits and vegetables for processing and packaging.
Current and planned R&D efforts are intended not only to ensuring sustainable business, but also lead to agricultural value chain improvements which may improve the living standards of the local communities.
In our continuing effort to be eco-friendlier, we aim to press and refine our secondary materials which are currently converted to fertilizer or unnecessarily classified as waste. We aim to recuperate and convert as much of the raw materials as possible into reusable secondary materials.
Our Partners
We have established strategic alliances with a number of local farmers as well as domestic and international organizations such as WAZZAN and ANHAM. Our excellent relationships with farmers, local communities and government agencies ensure a sustainable, safe and traceable supply of raw materials to meet the growing demands of our consumers and clients.
Development Goals
We take immense pride in pursuing sustainable and inclusive business models which are aligned with the national Sustainable Development Goals for agriculture. Therefore, we aim to:
Reduce wastage across the value chain by instilling quality standards, meeting legal requirements, reducing human errors, promptly addressing technical issues, and utilizing our vast network of logistics providers.
We welcome healthy competition and thereby raising the quality and standards of Afghan agricultural products and practices. BS views competition as a key contributing factor to its success and continued growth.
Meeting and exceeding our competition through the introduction of innovative technologies and research and development gives us the competitive advantage required to remaining a key player in the industry.
Improve the incomes of identified and pre-qualified Afghan growers through contract farming and training in global best practices.
BS has successfully established contracts with hundreds of farmers and numerous Agricultural Cooperatives and Farmers Unions across Afghanistan, namely Parwan, Kapisa, Laghman, Bamiyan, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kandahar, Herat and Kabul. As part of this initiative, BES provides contracted farmers technical advice, knowledge and skills, seeds, agrochemicals, and other costly inputs to ensure crops are cultivated and harvested successfully.
Introduce global accreditations to Afghan farmers to increase product values. Afghanistan has always enjoyed good reputation for its agricultural crops. However, the three decades of war left a decimated fruit industry which only started recovering in recent years.
Introducing global accreditations to farmers not only reestablished links to markets severed by war but it will also expand the industries’ reach into the global markets. Entering the global market translates into higher value for afghan crops, thereby increasing the incomes of 85%-90% of the population in rural areas engaged in the agriculture sector.
The accreditations introduced are: a. FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) b. FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) c. EU standards (European Standards)
Expand Boustan as an Afghan agricultural brand in the global market through the export of Afghanistan’s world class produce. (Same as above).
Implement modern agricultural technologies including soil and water testing for improved yields. • Drip irrigation system by end of 2018. • Installation of the largest greenhouses (10,086 SQM) by end of 2018.
Leverage all development actors; government, NGO and private sector, to commercialize and scale the Afghan agricultural industry from subsistence to sustainable export production.
