Agrinas Albania Foundation

The vision of the Agrinas - Netherlands, since from the beginning of the work in Albania was to establish an Albanian NGO that will continue on it self and being a support to the Albanian Community needs and be part in solving the communal problematic . In 2001 Agrinas - Albania was established with its Albanian Board of Directors and with its Executive Management Structure under the Albanian law

of NGO. Past and present projects
Agrinas - Albania Foundation since in its formations in 1994 has been fully participating with the programs in Agricultural fields with focus in Fruits and Vegetable technical assistance. A side to these projects Agrinas - Albania was involved in Infrastructure Projects by improving irrigation channels, rural roads improvements and in the Extensions Service where a very good relationship with the Government Agricultural Institutions was established in cooperation with the Albanian Ministry of Agricultural and Food. All this projects had in focus reduction of the poverty and establishing new methods of agricultural managements by initiating farmer associations and making the community taking roles and responsibilities in decisions making. A project with the High Professional School was being implemented as well for training purposes and forming the young generations with the skills and knowledge bases for agricultural. A part of the youth activities, extension service applied a lot of field demonstrations with the farmers that most of them were parents of schools students. During the year of 1999 Agrinas Albania was mush involved in the Kosovo Crisis, where 4500 refugees were under treatments by homing them and taking health and food care. This project was in cooperation with District Partner Organization and with the Municipality of Porgadec. During this phase Agrinas Albania Foundation was visited by the Primer Minister of Albania Mr. Pandeli Majko and in another moment by the Dutch Ambassador who visited our projects and offices. During the year 2000 - 2003 Agrinas Albania implemented the projects that were postponed by the factor of Kosovo Crisis and extended its scope of programs in the following activities:

- Agricultural project (Fruit trees, vegetables, seed multiplication and tree nurseries etc)
- Natural Resource Management (Forest raring and thinning, erosion control and measures, forest tree nurseries, tree planting etc)
- Gender and Women Participation (women role in leading factors, etc.)
- Education and Training projects
- Drinking Water Projects (Drinking water systems, etc in small scales)
- Animal husbandry and live stock support projects
- Hygiene and Sanitation (Dirt water management and animal husbandry hygiene)
- Supporting local initiatives especially the role of youth groups participating in the program

During 2006 - 2007 beside other activities Agrinas Albania Foundation has been partially involved in a regional program by supporting fruit tree growers in Market Chain Values and arising up the awareness. In the end of the year 2010, beside the actual projects during the beginning of 2012 Agrinas Albania implemented a Rapid Need Assessment with the beneficiaries and actors participating in this evaluation. The Need Assessment brought Agrinas - Albania to the new vision for more action and toward a new future approach
