I know that we post a lot of cute puppies and kittens, but the reality is that this can be an absolutely heart shattering job 💔🐾
At the end of the day, you may never know exactly what is happening behind our closed doors. A pet may be on our crash bench whilst we fight to save their life, trying to make sure they get to go home today with their family. Sometimes we aren’t so lucky 💔
We truly appreciate the people who wait patiently and the people who let emergencies or obviously unwell patients be seen by the vet first. If you are expecting a phone call from us, please don't think we have forgotten about you, we may just be trying to help out a patient who truly needs us right now. ❤️
Not only does the trauma of losing a pet stay with a pet owner, but it stays with us too. We are not robots. We are not emotionless beings. We care oh so much. We go home and tell our families and partners about our patients and all the types of cases we see. We vent to them about how upsetting losing one of our patients was and how upset their family and children were to lose their family pet. We share in the grief of saying goodbye.
We, Vets & Vet Nurses choose to do this job because WE LOVE ANIMALS. 🐶🐱
We take care of your pets because we know how much they mean to you. We worry, even lose sleep over your pets. When we send you home with an empty passenger seat, it hurts. 💔 We care more about your furry family members than our bladders, our feet, our hungry stomachs or our families who are waiting at home for us. 🏡
It breaks our hearts to go home after a busy day of literally fighting to save lives, to then see people so easily throw hurtful words around about vets on the internet.
We are not perfect- but we only ever give our best.
Always be kind, think before you type and if you have questions, just ask because you will never truly know know what type of day your vet has been through ❤️🐾
