I haven't looked this cute in years!

Playing Kitty for the Cat Adoption Foundation at an Inglefarm high-school student's roller-skating fundraiser on Saturday night. So glad I didn't bring the blades!!! The suit was so bulky and visibility was zilch, so surely would have fallen flat on my fuzzy face. I did get a boogie in though!

For me, fostering kittens was the perfect antidote to the huge sadness I felt when not just my brother, Marc, but my two elderly cats, Phantom and Tiger Lily, all passed away within weeks of one another. I fostered through the Cat Adoption Foundation, from whom I ended up adopting two gorgeous kittens, Serenity and Aisha.

Introducing the Rainbow Bridge Memorial

Inspired by Edna Clyne Rekhy’s popular poem, which she wrote at 19 to commemorate the loss of her beloved dog, this memorial is printed on 40cm x 40cm canvas, and comes to you ready to hang in a special place in your home.

The poem is customised to include your pet’s name, and presents with a collage of photos drawn from their life, set under a Kuwaii rainbow with gold stars. Ideally, 6 photos are needed, but I can easily create it with less.

The perfect gift for a loved one who’s lost their dearly beloved pet!

It has been a long time between posts, I know! I’ve been on two trips, to Auckland and Nelson, NZ, in March, and to Carmel, California, in May. Both trips were all about family, especially my mother, further to my little brother, Marc’s, death in November.

What with Marc’s passing, and also my precious furry Tiger Lily and Phantom’s, also in November, I’ve had a lot of thoughts about the grieving process. I’ve channeled them into my blog for you and hope that it will help to heal your heart.

Not everyone will understand the grief of losing a pet. Experiencing grief when losing a pet is very normal. It’s important that you allow yourself to grieve the loss of your pet so you can cope and move on from pet loss.

This is Charlie, whom we fostered and tamed from the wild to get him ready for adoption. Choosing to foster was my way of honouring my much missed Phantom and Tiger Lily, who were taken by old age a couple of months ago.

It took Charlie 6 weeks to trust us, so we were worried he may not adjust to his new home. Here he is, clearly blissed:!

With two precious cats gone due old age, I just had to bring new life into the home. Enter the foster kittens!

One of my gorgeous charges, Strawberry Rose, found a family this weekend. How I’m missing her! That little round belly!

It’s hard to give the little creatures up, I tell you - every part of me wants to be there for her, in case she should need me.

This is the delightful Charlie, who is actually just on 4 months old. He is fun, soft, sweet, rough and tumble, with the cutest little miaow and the occasional trill.

He’ll need your patience at first, most likely, as he was raised in the wild and brought to me for care after trapping. He hid under the couch for the first fourteen days he was here, and then bit by bit lured by food and rolling balls, he gave us his precious little heart. I know he will do the same for you!

Athena and Eros have been adopted by two lovely sisters! So happy they found a good, loving home together as they are so bonded.

Have just finished washing/bleaching and putting away their crate, litter boxes, and toys. That process hurts the heart. I was becoming seriously attached to them, and they to me, and I was ever so tempted to adopt them myself.

More foster news to come, I’m sure, as the Cat Adoption Foundation is always looking out for carers to nurture litters, mums and all sorts of other cats too.

Well, my foster kittens won’t arrive til next weekend as they are still being weaned. I’ll keep you posted, but the big social media reveal will need to wait until they are of adoption age per the request of the Cat Adoption Foundation.

I’ve just become a foster carer, with a whole litter of kittens coming to stay this weekend! I promise you oodles of pics and perhaps even a video or two!

Stocked up at Pet Barn today, who were lovely and gave me a discount. With plenty of kittens out there to take care of, I went ahead and became a member.

Apparently Advance is good and nutritious according to Cat Adoption Foundation, for whom I am volunteering.

How I miss Tiger Lily and Phantom! Raised together from when 6 weeks old, they left our world within just a couple of weeks of each other, each at 17 years and 10 months. The older they got, the chattier they became, so now the house is eerily silent.

Despite having pages and pages of sweet memories to record, I’m thinking of the two of them together in a water colour on my wall.
