Puppies (or any pet) aren't ๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ for Christmas ๐
While our dogs are a gift, they are also a big commitment and need your attention, love and financial support to live a long, happy and safe life with you and in our community.
We've put together this quick video for tips if you are considering gifting (or are receiving) a puppy this festive season ๐ถ๐

Welcome to our beaches Boston!
๐ข Boston has an im-paw-tant message for everyone who plans to enjoy our beaches this summer!
Daylight savings starts today, and with it comes the changes to our leash laws on the foreshore!
๐ Dogs must now be on lead between 10am and 8pm (everyday) on the foreshore (and on lead at all times on public footpaths!).
Did your pup receive a letter in the mail? ๐ ๐ฌ
We are loving the latest campaign from #GoodDogsBadDays - partnering with the post office to spread an important message about keeping us, dogs and our posties safe!

Dog and Cat Registration
Dog and cat registrations and microchipping are integral in helping our Community Safety Officers return pets to their people quickly and safely!
Here's Shelly and the adorable Taco to chat about how to ensure your dogs and cats are easily identifiable in the event they get out!
Throwback to when our officer Jason had For the Love of Pets ride along to learn more about a day in the life of our animal management team.
Thanks to Bossy's registration and microchip, our officer Jason was able to quickly locate his owner and safely return him home.
Unfortunately, at times dogs can escape from their homes. Responding to reports of wandering dogs is a crucial part of our Community Safety Officers' duties, and registering and microchipping your pet means that our team has easy access to your information resulting in a quicker reunion.
The dog registration renewal period is from 1 July to 31 August each year.

Please respect our wildlife on the foreshore!
These are wild animals and they may feel threatened if approached too closely by humans or dogs.
This video at Point Malcolm breakwater in Semaphore Park shows a sea lion trying to keep its distance from a member of the public.
Remember to maintain a 30m distance from seals and sea lions.
Even if you are outside of the designated on-lead times of 10am to 8pm on the foreshore, it is best to ensure your dog is leashed when passing by.
Let's all do our part to protect and appreciate our local wildlife.

Check out our chicks!
This video was taken by BirdLife Australia volunteer Mary last Saturday and shows our oldest Red Capped Plover chick taking flight!
How precious to see one of these at risk birds making it to this point against all the odds! ๐
Dogs must be on lead within 100m of the signed nesting sites (regardless of time of day).
Please protect our plovers - it's the leashed you can do!
๐ฝ๏ธ Video captured by trained Birdlife Volunteers is done using a long lens from a distance. This ensures birds are not disturbed or their safety compromised during breeding season.
