Introducing one of our patients, Max and his close calls! 🐍🐶🏥
Over the course of three months, Max's family found themselves facing two heart-stopping moments that tested their resilience and underscored the importance of their veterinary team and pet insurance.
During a routine walk along the esplanade, Max, a six-year-old black Cavoodle, stumbled upon a 2-meter brown snake coiled under a bush. Despite being on a lead, Max's instincts kicked in, and he pounced on the unsuspecting serpent. The serpent promptly retaliated and wrapped itself around Max. Shocked and panicked, Max's family swiftly intervened, pulling him away from the danger while the snake, also shocked and panicked, quickly slithered away. With adrenaline coursing through their veins, they rushed Max to the Victor Central Vet Clinic, guided by fellow pet owners who had experienced similar scares. Although Max showed no immediate signs of a snake bite, the vet took proactive measures, including installing a central line, to prepare for the worst-case scenario. Thanks to their quick actions and the safety net of pet insurance, Max's family breathed a sigh of relief as they navigated through the ordeal.
In another close call, Max found himself in a precarious situation after ingesting rat bait during a visit to a friend's place in Aldinga. With immediate action, Max's family again raced him to the Adelaide Animal Emergency Centre, where he underwent treatment to counteract the poison. For three weeks, Max's family anxiously monitored his progress, grateful for the support of their veterinary team and the assistance provided by pet insurance.
Through these heart-pounding experiences, Max's family gained a newfound appreciation for the importance of quick thinking, vigilant pet ownership, and the invaluable safety net provided by pet insurance. As Max wagged his tail in recovery, his family couldn't help but reflect on the precious bond they shared and the reassurance of knowing they were prepared for whatever challenges came their way.
Side note: Max has been grounded for the foreseeable future!
