**PARVOVIRUS AWARENESS** 🦠
❗️ Attention Dog Parents! ❗️
Parvovirus is a heartbreaking illness that poses a serious threat to our little fur babies. With recent increases in confirmed cases, it’s more important than ever to take precautions to protect them.

**⚠️ Key Guidelines to Keep Your Dogs Safe until they are Fully Vaccinated: **
- 🚫 No walks
- 🚫 No dog parks
- 🚫 No wandering in the front yard
- 🚫 No play dates
- 🚫 No visitors with dogs

**πŸ‘‰ How It Spreads: **
Parvovirus can be transmitted through direct contact with infected dogs or indirectly via contaminated faeces. This resilient virus can survive in the environment for years, meaning you could unintentionally bring it home on your shoes! πŸ₯Ί Even if your dog stays indoors, safety first – make sure they are fully vaccinated.

**🩺 Symptoms to Watch For: **

If your dog shows signs of:
- Lethargy and weakness
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Blood in faeces
- Dehydration
- Loss of appetite
- Fever
⚠️ **Seek veterinary care immediately! **

**πŸ₯ Treatment Options: **
While there’s no magic cure for parvovirus, supportive care can help our dogs recover. In severe cases, hospitalization and intensive treatment may be necessary. Remember, this highly contagious virus can be deadly, so prevention is key!
Let’s keep our precious pups safe by spreading awareness and ensuring they receive their vaccinations on time! Together, we can protect our furry family members! ❀️🐾

Multiple cases confirmed in Salisbury, Brahma Lodge and surrounding suburbs. Please make sure puppies complete all recommended boosters on time and only taken to safe environments until 2 weeks after their final puppy vaccinations. Adult dogs need a booster every 12 months 🩺 🐢

Outbreaks of canine parvovirus have been confirmed across Adelaide’s northern and western suburbs.

The virus is highly contagious, mainly affecting unvaccinated puppies and dogs, and is often fatal if left untreated.

Cases have been confirmed in Andrews Farm, Elizabeth Grove, Elizabeth South, and Seaton.

Symptoms include lethargy, loss of appetite, severe vomiting, and diarrhoea.

RSPCA SA is reminding dog owners that parvovirus progresses rapidly, and to seek immediate veterinary assistance if the animal has any of the above symptoms.

Grass seed season is in full swing 😩
Keep your pets well groomed and monitor for any behaviour such as persistent sneezing, shaking of the ears, licking excessively at the paws or any area of the body, swelling or redness of the skin or squinting of the eyes. Keep your grass short and free of seeds, and if you encounter them out and about make sure to check over your pet thoroughly including in between the toes!
If you suspect your pet may have a grass seed embedded somewhere, please get them seen by a vet as soon as you can as they can migrate, cause damage, pain and discomfort πŸ“žπŸŒ±

Happy Halloween to all our friends!

We hope you had fun trick or treating today.

Delly would like to remind our trick or treaters to hide their lolly stashes away from our furry friends especially those brown poo looking ones (chocolate) and the stretchy looking ones (gum)!

If your furry friends do end up finding these lollies, please call and bring them to the emergency vets at these locations:

1. SASH: 99 Rundle Street, Kent Town (8133 5300)
2. AVSARC: 102 Magill Rd, Norwood (8132 0533)
3. Roseworthy Vet, University of Adelaide: 1454 Mudla Wirra Rd, Roseworthy (8313 1999)

In the meantime, Delly has been terrorizing the hospital patients today with her deathly stares and insane zoomies with wings she apparently just grown!

Happy Halloween!!! πŸ‘» πŸŽƒ πŸ‰ πŸ”₯
