The Gundog Club of SA inc is dedicated to the promotion and training of all Gundog breeds. Our club logo includes a triangle, each corner of the triangle represents a Gundog discipline. Gun Dog Club of SA is a voluntary organisation whose aim is to promote and educate dog owners regarding responsible dog ownership and basic obedience training. The Club consists of a friendly, helpful group of peop

le and new members are always welcome. Our Instructors are all un-paid volunteers who give their time freely towards providing this service to the local community. Dogs of all breeds and ages and sizes are trained at the Club and it does not matter whether you wish to train your dog to competitive trialing standard or simply to teach the basics and have an obedient family pet. We have classes ranging from Puppies (or Beginner) to trial standard. We teach basic heeling, sit, drop, stays, recall and socialisation. Class sessions go for approximately 50 minutes. You can purchase leads and various collars from the club at reasonable prices. We require members to have their dogs fully vaccinated prior to joining and annually. If you wish to join the Club it is essential that you bring along your dog's current vaccination card. Also the vaccination card must be sighted annually with each renewal of membership.

Gundog Club of SA Christmas Party

Don't forget tomorrow night is our 2024 Breakup Christmas Party.

Although the weather may bring some rain tomorrow the forecast for the evening is for only a 10% chance of rain.

Your instructors have decided to go ahead with our planned event so we hope to see you all there tomorrow night for a lot of fun and games.

Can't wait to see those Christmas costumes.

** Storm Warning! **

BOM is warning of a chance of a thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon, Saturday 23rd November.

If your dog struggles with loud noises like thunder, here are some tips and tricks that might help them feel better:
⚡️ Keep your dog company or ask friends or family they trust to look after them
⚡️ Shut blinds or windows to reduce noise and the sight of lightening
⚡️ Let them hide wherever they feel safest (as long as it's actually safe for them)
⚡️ Turn the TV up, or play some music to help muffle some sound
⚡️ Play games or use long lasting, high value treats like Kongs, chews or bones as a distraction
⚡️ Speak to your vet about short term medication as an option

Most importantly: comfort them. ‘Reinforcing fear’ is a myth – you can’t make an emotion worse by being compassionate.

Remember to call us on 8408 1111 if you do come across a scared pup who has wandered away from home or your dog has escaped.

Open for entries now on Top Dog Events. Given this trial isn't for a while yet, so that it is easier to change entries, for now I would recommend entering but not paying until much closer to the date 🙂
