We are aware of the current bush fire on Education Road and are monitoring the situation closely.

We have arranged alternate housing at another vet clinic for our cattery cats and hospital patients if we are required to evacuate.

We recommend people in the Happy Valley, Aberfoyle Park and surrounding areas to be monitoring the cfs website for up to date information and warnings.

Please stay safe and out of the way of the emergency services trying to get this under control.

Grass seed season has begun!

With the summer grasses drying up, troublesome grass seeds are on the loose. Beware, as their needle-shaped tips can pe*****te your pet's skin, leading to painful abscesses. Watch for any lumps or swelling, especially between the toes, along with signs like excessive licking, pain, or bloody discharge from a minor wound. We have pulled grass seeds from almost everywhere! Toes, ear canals, eyes, nostrils, tonsils (!), even from a dogs v***a 😫 If you think your pet may have a grass seed problem, please give us a call to book them into see our vets! 🌾🐾

Costumes and masks, lights and decorations, and a constant parade of strangers coming to your door— Halloween can be a downright spooky experience for pets.

You can protect your pets by taking these steps to reduce the risk of them being hurt, poisoned, or lost:
🎃 No Treats: Keep pets away from candies; they may contain dangers like chocolate and xylitol.
🎃 Fit Check: Dress up pets carefully; supervise and ensure comfort.
🎃 Stranger Danger: If pets tend to get anxious around strangers, keep them away from the front door or in a separate room.
🎃 Indoors Only: Keep your pets indoors during Halloween and ensure their microchip details are up to date.

RELOCATION OF AAERC (Adelaide Animal Emergency & Referral Centre) 119 Anzac Highway Kurralta Park

Just a quick notice to let everyone know that as of today, any pet care at AAERC will no longer be available. This is due to the property being acquired for demolition for the expressway extension.
Emergency services that will be available:
- SASH Adelaide - 99 Rundle Street, Kent Town - (08) 8133 5300
- Pawprints Afterhours (8pm-8am) - 199 Main Road, Blackwood - 0438 099 309

With the warmer weather coming in, our slithering reptile friends are on the move as hibernation season ends.

🚫 If you spot a snake, the best thing to do is leave it alone. Stay calm and slowly walk away, ensuring children and pets are safe.
If you suspect your pet has encountered a snake, don't wait. Call your vet clinic and get them to a vet immediately, as early treatment is critical.
ℹ️ Common snake bite signs include: sudden weakness, muscle tremors, vomiting/diarrhoea, drooling, loss of bladder control, dilated pupils, paralysis, unsteady or disoriented, and blood in the urine

Check out these fabulous before and after photos of Dr Emma’s dog, William, after his teeth clean!

William has a solid dental home care regime but this does not eliminate him from having to have a scale and polish every year 🦷🪥

In the before photo, you can see the build up of plaque on his teeth which if left, could cause further dental disease. In the after photo, you can see all of that plaque gone and his sparkly clean white teeth after his scale and polish!
