✨Maple’s Boxing Day Surprise✨

Maple was brought to us today after spending a week on a farm. Her owners noticed a lump and small hole between the toes.

Upon examination, we discovered two grass seeds lodged in her paw, causing an abscess and infection. After sedation, we carefully removed the seeds, flushed the abscess, and thoroughly cleaned the affected area.

Maple recovered well from sedation and was discharged within two hours, feeling much better and even giving Nurse Maddy a cuddle before heading home.

Grass Seeds and Pets: What You Need to Know
Grass seeds can cause serious issues for pets, including infections, abscesses, and foreign body reactions. Early detection and treatment are key to preventing more severe health problems.

🎄COMMON CHRISTMAS TOXINS 🎄
With Christmas just around the corner, we wanted to take a moment to remind you about the common toxins that can pose a threat to your furry friends during the festivities. As you celebrate, it’s important to be mindful of what your pets might be getting into! 🎅🐶

To ensure we’re here when you need us, we’ve extended our hours over the public holidays (Closed Christmas Day). See our updated holiday hours on our website and social media.

✨Meet Jax✨
A new addition to his family, Jax has been with his owners for just one day. Unfortunately, during this time, he chewed through a fan cord, causing a power outage in the home. Electrical shocks can lead to serious complications, including pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs) and heart arrhythmias. Dr. Hannah promptly assessed Jax’s condition, checking his oxygen levels (SpO2) and conducting an electrocardiogram (ECG) to monitor his heart function. Fortunately, Jax sustained only minor burns to his mouth and has made a full recovery 🔌💡

✨Meet Kaiser✨
Kaiser was brought in by his owner due to persistent vomiting. Dr. Isabella administered an anti-nausea injection, and Kaiser responded well to the treatment. He was even able to enjoy some treats afterward. Now feeling much better, Kaiser seems eager to show off his tongue! 😄👅🐾

✨Meet Teddy✨
Our youngest patient yet! 🐾 This playful 10-week-old pup came in with a bit of an ear issue—flapping his ears and yelping in discomfort. After a quick visit to the us, we discovered the culprit: a pesky grass seed lodged in his ear. A gentle sedation helped Teddy relax, and the grass seed was safely removed. Now, Teddy is back to his happy, healthy self. Completely grass seed-free and ready to enjoy his next adventure! 🐕✨

🎉 Winston’s Birthday Surprise 🎉

Yesterday, our friend Winston decided to treat himself to a whole block of chocolate for his birthday! While we love a good birthday treat, chocolate is unfortunately toxic to dogs. 🐾

Thankfully, Winston’s owners brought him in to our clinic promptly, where we were able to induce vomiting and get rid of the chocolate safely. Our wonderful nurse Maryanne was holding back Winston’s ears as he vomited up a large amount of chocolate. 😅

We’re happy to report that Winston is feeling much better and back to his wagging ways – happy (and safe) birthday, Winston! 🐶💚

✨Meet Hercules✨
He came to us last night after a lump on his tummy had burst. Dr Isabella clipped and cleaned the area and gave him some pain relief. He was sent home with medication and his new stylish accessory. His grandparents now refer to him as a frilled-neck lizard.

⚡️Sparky ⚡️came to us last night after having a nasty grass seed stuck in his left ear. It was very sore and causing him to shake his head. He was seen straight away and given a light sedation to remove the grass seed. Sparky went home a lot happier after lots of kisses and cuddles from the team 🐶
