During the groom I will complete a thorough investigation of you dogs skin by blowing open his fur. This allows me to find skin issues, open wounds, and even staples vets left from previous operations. This time of year though I am finding grass seeds in most of the dogs.

This morning I removed one from Gizmo and four from Chase 2 of which will need further investigation by a vet.

Once grass seeds enter the skin they travel further into the dog which can mean 1000s in vet bills to locate and remove.

Regular grooming can identify issues before they become serious problems.

Cookie jumped straight into bath 🛁 and gave me cuddles 🤗 when we were done

Today we worked with Julia and Beau.
Beau is a 7 mth old Bernese Mountain Dog and Julia had a list of things that she wanted help improving with his training.

We conditioned our marker (In this case the clicker)
We talked about reinforcement schedules and placement.
Loaded value into the heel position
Showed Julia how to get Beau to find the heel position.
Worked on focus and engagement with Julia around the distraction of the spectators.
Place training
Getting in and out of the car
Toileting on command and in a designated area.

Julia will be given support over the next few weeks while she works Beau through these exercises. Once she has a solid foundation we will expand their skills.
