Today was a special day for us here at Balkanika; my husband and I celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary ❤️💕🥳

And honestly… it looked exactly like most of our other days. No fancy dinners, no extravagant trips, no spoiling ourselves with lavish gifts. Instead, we spent the day doing what we always do: cleaning litter boxes, washing endless bedding, feeding, walking, topping up waters, doing two-hourly round-the-clock feeds, squeezing in a vet trip… and the rest of the endless list every breeder knows all too well.

It’s not glamorous. It’s not easy. But it is the life we chose when we decided to dedicate ourselves to the betterment of the breeds we adore. There are no days off and no excuses but we honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.It might sound ordinary to some, but to us, it’s exactly what makes our life special. This is the life we chose one where our days are full of purpose, partnership, and the furry family that means the world to us.

Because at the end of the day, what more could anyone want than to spend their life with their best friend and the person they love most, doing what they love, surrounded by the animals that make your heart feel full?

A big thank you to my husband for always putting up with my crazy, cheering me on, and supporting me while I chase my dreams. I couldn’t do any of this without you. ❤️

We’ve cracked the code! 💥
After years of hard work, patience and dedication, we’ve finally unlocked another one of our biggest dreams, producing our very first odd-eyed bi-colour.

Everyone, please meet Balkanika My Thyme To Shine, our beautiful odd-eyed seal tortie and white girl. 💜 This girl is our of our stunning kiddos Balkanika Basil Leaf It To Me and Von The Jackpot.

This has been a long-term project for us, one we’ve poured our hearts and countless hours into. Over the years we’ve been working on two separate genetic projects our odd-eyed whites and our odd-eyed bi-colours. While they may look similar to some, the odd-eyed bi-colour gene is completely separate, and producing one has been a goal we’ve been striving towards for a very long time. We'll make a note that that the the odd eye bi colours are a completely seperate gene to the dominant blue-eye gene, which often produces odd-eyed cats that are bi-colour or solid with a small locket of white on the face, tail, or feet.

Seeing this dream come to life feels absolutely incredible. There have been so many lessons, challenges, and moments of hope along the way and little Thyme makes it all worthwhile.

What a year 2025 has been — from achieving our first odd-eyed white kitten, to now producing this special girl. It’s truly been a season of dreams coming true, and we couldn’t be prouder or more grateful. 🌿✨

Our beautiful Thyme will join our stunning Kismet our odd eyed seal mink and white girl and our odd eye whites to continue our journey into exploring this odd eye obsession of ours further.

And… we’ve been keeping one more little secret from everyone that we can’t wait to share soon — stay tuned! 💫

What a purrfectly fun weekend we had at the Crazy Cat Capers Cat Show, this time with a Pyjama Party theme! Who doesn’t love a show where you can strut your cats and your cool pyjama's at the same time.

We packed up the boys and hit the road for a day full of laughter, cuddles, and a little bit of friendly competition. As always, our Balkanika crew didn’t disappoint tails held high, hearts full, and whiskers on point!

It was such a joy to spend the day surrounded by fellow cat lovers (and some amazing pyjamas). Both Jack and Frost soaked up all the attention, enjoying every minute of the spotlight and, of course, a few extra treats for being such good boys.

The results were the cherry on top of an already fantastic day — we couldn’t be prouder of our handsome lads! 💕
