🌸Wholesome Story🌸

Meet Mr. Cass and Beans the kitty 🐱
We had Beans in last week for a desexing surgery and we thought he would be the perfect fit for one of our lovely clients! 🫶🏼
Tday we arranged for Mr. Cass to come meet Beans and they both fell in love and quickly became inseparable. 🩷 We are so happy for the both of them to have each other, Beans was in need of a forever home and Mr. Cass had so much love to give but just needed someone to give it to.

We want to say a big thankyou to Paws Hillbank Haven Rescue for looking after Beans up untill now, and being so happy for this adoption! They were so kind as to let Beans go free of charge to his forever owner out of their pure love and happiness for Beans 🥰

Paws Hillbank Haven Rescue have many other lovely kitties and cats available for adoption, if you are interested you can contact our clinic on 08 8261 9948 or the Haven Rescue founder directly 0459 194 223. they also offer a boarding service to all of their adopted cats (free of charge for up to 7 days) 😊

*** MAX UPDATE ***
Thank you to everyone who reached out to support Max 🐶.
Max was assessed by Scott from Adelaide K9 Services (pictured) last week and we are happy to say he has now been fostered by a professional rehabilitation carer. Scott has also offered to support Max’s new owners in the future.

Homeward Bound Australia Rescue and Re-Home are now responsible for Max and will ensure he finds a wonderful home in the future after some training and health care.
We wish this little guy all the best and hope that he finds his perfect person.
Please head over to the Homeward Bound page for further updates. These people work tirelessly to support our furry friends by caring for them while they find their new homes. As you can appreciate this costs a lot of money. Should you wish to support them in helping Max and the many other animals in their care you can make a donation by getting in touch with Aranea on 0430715866. Aranea is also happy to answer any questions.

Big thanks to Adelaide K9 Services for coming to our clinic today to assess Max. We will update everyone once we have reached a solution.

We are aware of a post being shared regarding a dog in our care. Information regarding this animal should not have been posted. We feel there should be a little more information given about Max and his situation and our responsibilities to both the owner and the public.
Max is an aggressive dog. He has hospitalised two people as a result of attacks. Max was presented at our clinic for euthanasia due to his behavioural problems. It was discussed that the owner surrender Max to see how he behaved in a different environment. Unfortunately Max has continued to show aggression including cage guarding and he has attempted to attack staff by lunging and attempting to bite.
As a result we are unable to rehome Max to any member of the public for several reasons.
Max is subject to a Dangerous Dog Order under the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 SA.
Should Max be rehomed the new owner would be liable and should Max attack anyone is subject to fines of up to $50,000 and if negligence is proved likely criminal charges.
Should he be deemed a dangerous dog he would be required to live inside his owners home or in a fenced area. The area required usually consists of a full cage including roof that is concreted into the ground. He would have to wear a special collar showing he is a dangerous dog and be muzzled at all times when leaving the premises.
If Max was rehomed to someone who is not an expert and the worst happens then he would be given a destruction order, usually via court application by the relevant body.
We will not be able to rehome Max to a member of the public as stated.
We appreciate everyone’s concerns and offers and we are truly touched by how much people care.
We have been advised by the relevant organisations regarding Max’s future and we are required to either find a professional to retrain and attempt to find Max a home or euthanise him at the owners request.
Max has not been put to sleep. We are doing our best to find the best outcome for Max.
The person who posted the original post had good intentions however this should not have been made a public matter.
We would appreciate if calls to the clinic regarding Max could please stop as our nurses also have hospital patients to tend to. However if you are a certified dog trainer willing to take Max we would love to hear from you.
Max will not be kept at the clinic as we have to keep both him and our staff safe.
Should you have any concerns feel free to message our page and we will get to you when we can.
We are unable to discuss this matter any further publicly for the protection of Max’s previous owners, our staff and our clinic.
As stated we will do our best for Max to achieve the best outcome. Should he go to a certified trainer the trainer’s information will not be disclosed due to privacy reasons.
We thank you for your understanding and above all your compassion for Max.

Please refer to the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 (SA) should you have any concerns regarding our responsibilities.

** We will be posting an update regarding Max when we can. We have several conversations to be had and an assessment to be made. This may not be until tomorrow but we will do our best. We have the situation in hand and appreciate all the offers of help. 1824 7/6/24

🥰Such a heartwarming story🥰

Cleo the cat was missing for around 10 months when she was brought into our clinic, and thankfully because she was microchipped we were able to reunite her with her lovely owner.

This is a great opportunity for us to spread awareness of the importance of microchipping your fur babies ☺️🐶

Does anyone have any baby socks that need a home?
Yes you read that correctly.
We use baby socks to keep animals feet warm during surgery and recovery 💜
Over time they wear out or become soiled and have to be disposed of. Rather than purchasing new ones we thought we would check if anyone is getting rid of some.

Yesterday we said a fond farewell to our awesome nurse Eloise! We have had the pleasure of working with Eloise for the last few years but it is finally time for her to move on to new experiences. Over the last four weeks, since her resignation, she has been working tirelessly helping the new staff to learn all the protocols and procedures. Eloise has even written a very impressive Protocol Manual for the new nurses to help them find their way around the clinic, which has really helped them settle in.

Good luck Eloise and we wish you all the best for your future career!

28/12/2023

Update. Thank you so much for the overwhelming response. Thanks to our facebook community we have found a qualified nurse and we are short listing other applicants.

Almost missed it 🫢
It’s National Vet Nurse Day.

You have most likely met one or all of our amazing nurses. Without these ladies we wouldn’t be able to offer the care and attention they dedicate themselves to every day. We appreciate every single one of them for their vast and many talents. They answer every phone call, admit and look after every animal, monitor every surgery and sedation, ensure your pets comfort and treat them like their own. There are so many things the nurses do behind the scenes that clients don’t see. We simply couldn’t be without them.
Big thanks to our family of nurses. Nurse Eloise, nurse Eva, nurse Marina and trainee nurse Zia.

Eloise has been with us for quite some time. Some may say she is the quiet one but that isn’t true at all. Eloise has worked both as a kennel attendant and nurse with us and is now nursing. Once again another passionate person who always greets everyone with a big smile. Eloise has come in leaps and bounds in her career with us. Eloise is always cheerful and willing to help. You will often hear her baby talk to the animals when she thinks no one can hear her.

Eva has been with us for two years now. Also a very passionate nurse and we are pleased to say she was accepted in to vet science and is now at university as well as with us. Eva loves all the animals and asks our vets many and varied questions. We love that she loves to learn and that she is continuing with us during her studies. If you hear someone laughing loudly from the waiting room it’s definitely Eva.

Marina has been with us since the start of the year. Another passionate nurse. Marina is meticulous in her work with great attention to detail. Her dry sense of humour gets a lot of laughs. Another astute nurse who is always eager to learn. We are looking forward to Marina finishing her studies next month so she can spend more time with us.

Zia is our newest trainee nurse. Passionate and full of smiles. Zia is between university courses at the moment and hopefully continues in the veterinary industry when she returns to university. You will often see Zia at reception where she is extremely helpful to our clients and great with the animals.

Please take the time to thank these incredible people when you next visit. 💜

17/08/2023

New campaign in South Australia aimed at keeping both dogs and people safe after 500 hospital admissions for dog attacks. This doesn’t include vet visits for dogs involved in incidents with other dogs. It’s worth checking out the website.

A round of a-paws goes to the Dog & Cat Management Board (SA Government) for their latest awareness campaign, ‘Good dogs have bad days’, which aims to reduce dog attacks by educating us about dog behaviour and common trigger situations. 🐕 👏🏻

While we like to think we know what our dogs are feeling and thinking, the reality is we often don't. Like us, dogs' emotions can fluctuate, and they will usually try to communicate their feelings with us, but sometimes we just can't see it.

Biting is an action that very few dogs want to take but do so when they feel it’s their last defence mechanism. As a result, it’s on us to learn how to understand our furry friends to minimise risk both at home and in the community.

⭐️ EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY ⭐️

We are STILL looking for a full time nurse and/or a veterinary receptionist. We are also after ongoing part time staff.

We are looking for someone with a friendly personality who learns quickly and works well under pressure. We are a very busy little clinic at times.

Get in touch if you think you could be what we are looking for. On the job training provided however those who wish to be nurses must enrol and in time complete their Cert IV in veterinary nursing.

Message us here if you are interested 😊

Edited to update. We have had an amazing response and we are so excited. We are going through everyone’s resumes and they are fantastic! We intend to set up some meet and greets and some trial shifts over the next week. We will respond by email to every applicant even if you aren’t successfully this time we will keep you in mind. Unfortunately due to the high number of applicants we won’t be taking anymore applications after 12pm tomorrow, Thursday the 12th of January, however we encourage interested people to send in one anyway for future positions.
