We have ceased breeding Bengals 18 months ago. During the 12 years of breeding, have focussed on breeding as close as possible to the TICA breed standard and focussing on the traits which sets the Bengal apart from domestic breeds such as those inherited from the ALC, a small wildcat. Small ears, straight profile, rounded nocturnal eyes and strong boning.
I hope that existing breeders pay attention to these traits and not only on pattern, or colours as I fear is occurring. The choices made will shape the Bengal breed in AU for the future.
