💛 Welcome Dr Kate Thompson 🩺

Dr Kate graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2022 and has since gained experience working in small animal practices around Adelaide before joining Rose Park Vet Surgery in 2024.

As a general practice veterinarian, she enjoys the wide variety of cases she encounters each day, from preventative care and surgery, to diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions. Throughout university she fostered retired racing greyhounds with GapSA which has led to a clinical interest in this beautiful breed.

Kate is passionate about providing high-quality care to pets and their families and enjoys building strong relationships with owners to help their animals live happy, healthy lives.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, baking, and listening to music. 🎶

Kate is looking forward to meeting you all in clinic!

Not a very fun fact, but an important one - A**l glands! 💩

Impacted and smelly, a**l glands are seen on a near daily basis by your Veterinarian. Not only are they unpleasant for you to be around, they are also very uncomfortable for your pet!

If you noticed any of the symptoms listed in this post, call our clinic on 8364 4200.

Urethral obstruction is life-threatening, so contact your veterinary team immediately if your cat is showing the signs listed above.

Male cat urinary blockage is extremely common, especially among neutered male cats; therefore, it's critical for pet parents to know the signs of the condition. The sooner a cat receives proper treatment, the more likely they are to have a healthy recovery!

Protect your dogs paws in the heat! 🌡🌞
If the air outside is pleasantly warm, you may think there is no risk that your dog’s paws will get burnt. But the ground can get much hotter than the surrounding air.
While your dog still need their daily walk in the summertime, these trips should be kept short, particularly when it is hot, not only to ensure that he doesn’t get overheated, but to avoid painful burns to paw pads. 🐾
