Did you know?!

Eggs represent new life and rebirth, and it's thought that this ancient custom became a part of Easter celebrations. In the medieval period, eating eggs was forbidden during Lent (the 40 days before Easter) so on Easter Sunday, tucking into an egg was a real treat!πŸ₯š

In the house, in the garden, in the paddock....Easter eggs are used for hunts in may places.
But did you know there are also digital easter eggs?

Sometimes they look like eggs, sometimes they don't πŸ€”πŸ˜œ

- See all of that damage on the tongue in the bottom picture? That's been caused by bot fly larvae.
❓ What is a Bot Fly? It's that annoying fly that buzzes around your horse and lays little yellow eggs on their coat, usually on their legs.

❓ How do they get into the mouth? The horse often rubs the infected areas with their mouth, which deposits the eggs. The eggs hatch into larvae which then burrow into the soft tissue around the mouth for 3-4 weeks before moving on to the stomach. Here, they burrow into the mucous lining until winter.

❓Are you still with me? Awesome. Bot Flies hang around during the hotter months - laying their eggs over summer. So be vigilant - when you see those pesky eggs on your horse's legs, try and get rid of them!

Looking forward to competing this weekend.
