Meet the newest members of the Wolki Retrievers Family 😍❤️

Because a few girls have retired this year, I’ve decided to keep these 2 girls from Bella’s litter for future breeding.
I’ll do a poll in stories so you can help me name them both!

All my breeding dogs are placed with permanent guardian families in the Albury region and come back to me once a year to raise a litter. If you’re interested in being a guardian to one of these girls, send me a message for more info 😊

Over the last few months I’ve had to desex 2 of my up and coming breeding girls from my breeding program. They were all over 2 years old.

They did not pass the health tests I do.

It is very difficult to find quality breeding dogs that tick all the boxes and there’s more things to consider when selecting a breeding dog then people realise.

THIS is the difference between buying from a professional breeder and buying from a backyard breeder. The term ‘backyard breeder’ refers to puppy farmers but also people who decide to breed their pet for fun. From the naked eye, these dogs are perfectly healthy and do not display any symptoms. Genetics are complicated, that’s why tests are important. Just because a dog doesn’t display symptoms, doesn’t mean their puppies won’t.

Every health test result goes through my vet, who often consults specialists or does further research to get a deeper understanding of the results.

Of course I cannot guarantee perfect health in a puppy as there’s many factors involved. There’s health concerns that can’t be tested for, environmental reasons and bad luck!

Putting time, effort and finances into these dogs only to find out I can’t breed from them is incredibly disheartening. This is the true nature of professional dog breeding that people don’t get to see and the reason why it’s so important to adopt your puppy from a good source.

🐾 MEET MAVERICK 🐾

Wolki Retrievers new stud arrived this morning! 😍 He came from a vet in QLD who is also a Golden Retriever breeder.

He’s a friendly pup who wasted no time running around to check things out!

I’m looking for a guardian family for Maverick. All my breeding dogs are placed with permanent families in the Albury Region and come back to me for a few days when a girl is on heat. If you’re interested, send me a message 😊

Benji the stud recently turned 7! 🎉
He will have one more litter next year, then the will retire ❤️

Because of this, I have another stud on the way, due to arrive next week! Name ideas are welcome 🐾

During the night we welcomed Nala’s beautiful litter! ❤️ 🐾

Nala is a girl that I kept from a previous litter (Lucy x Benji 2021). She has a very gentle & calm temperament which helped her have a really smooth delivery. The puppies are all doing well.

So excited to raise these pups! 😍

Benji & Malfi’s play date! 🐾

Benji’s son Malfi from a 2021 litter lives in Sydney, but his family was passing through Albury so they stopped in to say hi and to reunite the boys.

They had an absolute blast together and played non stop for an hour! They are both big boys and I think they were excited to be around another dog that could handle their strength. They chased each other and wrestled until they were both puffed 😂

Thanks to Malfi and his family for stopping in, you made Benji’s day!

(He didn’t want them to leave so he hopped in their car 🤭)
