Under Pressure.....
When to put the pressure on and when to let it go.
Like in our lives pressure comes in many forms.
Whether it be putting it on ourselves, others putting it on us or maybe the environment we are in.
Whatever the circumstance of pressure at sometime it has to be released.
This mornings class at Urbans was all about the pressure we put on our dogs be it intentional or not.
Putting a leash on our dogs already causes pressure to them but we have the ability to control it and that comes through education and training.
When we hold the lead too close to the collar the dog is already changing its behaviour, it objects to not being able to freely move and is wanting the pressure released.
That is us putting pressure on our dogs and we have the skills to release that pressure.
If a dog is pulling like a stream train then the dog is putting its self under pressure.
By teaching the dog how to behave on lead the dog will understand that it dosent have to put pressure on its self.
Like humans some dogs have a higher pressure threshold than others but no matter what the level it needs to be released.
Learning when to apply and release pressure on our dogs is like talking on a telephone (the older ones with the cord and handpiece). It is direct and we can control the conversation.
Another clip from last night's class, once again dogs did great work especially those that had never done this before.
With a chill in the air, it was time to keep both humans and dogs moving.
This was a fun class, and all the dogs were awesome working closely together.
Keeping dogs focused and engaged on the task in hand gives them less time to be distracted.
Well done all.......😃
Making memories whilst having the best fun with our dogs.
20+ dogs at this mornings water class and each one were amazing.
From the first time in the water dogs/puppies to the seasoned swimmers, they happily joined in together with their handlers.
Water weaving, body balance on the boards, canoe rides, and retrieving bumpers were a huge success.
Yes, we will hold another water class in April. Keep an eye out for the date.
Another very successful Water Safety Training Class this morning.
Great to see some first timers enjoying time with their dogs in the water.
Our fashion award for today goes to Miss Coco in her stunning pink summer suit and matching hat.
Spike the mini Bull Terrier sporting his pink sun screen was showing us all how sun safety is so important even for dogs.
Thank you all who came along and learnt something new and splashed around with their four-legged besties.
Our next Water Safety Training Class will be held on Saturday, 9th March.
Happy New Year to all of you.....🥂

A great way to end our Wednesday Morning Training sessions or as we like to call it Mental Health Wednesday.
A casual walk through Sumsion Gardens and some off lead time in the dog park where our group were the only ones.
Then up to The Brekkie Box for a cuppa under the tree.
Thankyou to all of our clients for supporting us throughout 2023.
A great Water Training Class this morning.
With life vests on all and a couple of nervous starts for some dogs new to the water, by the end of class, every dog was swimming.
Some of the more experienced dogs went out either on the paddle boards or the canoe.
We are finishing our training year with another Water Fun Class next Saturday morning 16th December 9.30-10.30am.
Please share your pics from this morning, we would love to see what your dogs achieved.
We held our first Water Safety Training Class for the year this morning.
Although a little chilly, it was great to see humans getting out with their dogs for some fun.
Some dogs had never been introduced to the water before.
We never want to just expect they will like it, so it is gradual steps on lead and wearing a floatation vest and using high value treats.
By the end of the class, every dog that was there was able to ride on a paddle board or in the canoe.
I am very proud of all handlers and the positive way in which their dog achieved success.
Our next water safety class will be held on Saturday, 9th December, at Kookaburra Point.
More from our Wednesday class....
