Don't have a collar with your dogs name on it?

Make your own before TC Alfred turns up.

Grab some ribbon or cut up and old t-shirt and write their name and your number on it with a sharpie, tie it on your dog, cat, guinea pig, bird etc so if they get out, they can be quickly returned.

Be sure to prepare not just for yourself but for your furbabies in case TC Alfred hits Brisbane.
All animals react to severe weather and winds, especially during storms. Dogs find winds exciting, and it promotes hyperarousal whereas horses and cats fear the wind and will become disorientated, and fight or flight mode will kick in.
Cats will hide for days or weeks, horses and dogs will run for weeks!
How can you protect your pets during this time: Keep all pets indoors where possible. If your pets have to be outside, ensure they have safe and secure shelter. High winds predicted can easily move non fixed structures such as dog kennels, garden furniture and play equipment can be easily become a dangerous projectile that can cause serious injury so be sure to secure any loose items in your yard.
With the forecast rain, flooding may be expected, so ensure higher ground for livestock and domestic animals. Any caged birds, keep them indoors, if you can not physically get them indoors, cover their cages securely to reduce winds as a high wind can knock a bird around the cage with devastating results. Be sure to also secure the cage so it doesn't itself become airborne or knocked over, which could release the bird. A domestic bird will not survive in the wild.
Keep safe and be vigilant, ensure you have enough food and fresh water supplies for both yourself and your pets, and stay home if at all possible.

⚠️Parvovirus Outbreak⚠️

PSA - AWLQ have notified of PARVO VIRUS outbreak in the Logan Region.

We have NOT had any cases presented to us but thought we should warn our clients of the outbreak in the area.

We encourage pet owners to be vigilant about the signs of parvovirus, which can vary depending on the severity of the infection. Common symptoms include:

*Severe, bloody diarrhoea: Characterised by foul-smelling, watery stools with blood due to inflammation and damage to the intestinal lining.
*Vomiting: Dogs may vomit undigested food and exhibit dry heaving when their stomach is empty.
*Lethargy and weakness: Dogs can become extremely ill and fatigued, with puppies particularly vulnerable.
*Loss of appetite: Nausea and abdominal pain can lead to refusal of food and water, exacerbating dehydration.
*Fever: High fever often occurs as the body fights the infection.

If your dog exhibits any of these symptoms, isolate them immediately and contact your veterinarian. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical, as parvovirus can be deadly if left untreated.
