To all the brides-to-be who live, work or dream about living or marrying on a farm, I'm wondering if any of you have come across what I did recently? Obviously we've had a lot of rain ... and our local wildlife like to keep dry and comfortable as well. But, imagine my surprise when I drove down to our machinery shed to start up my rideon mower ... only to find this on the seat! Of course it's a python skin, but initially I gasped and definitely checked around me. Of course the long reptile would have been long gone ... but I had trouble controlling my ... let's call it "concern". Co-existing is fine; but when I sit on my machine these days, I know something big has been before me!
Anyway, if you are looking for a celebrant who can deal with all sorts of challenges, why don't you check my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au and read what other couples have to say about my services in the 80+ Google reviews? I specialise in informal ceremonies that can be as sentimental and engaging as you wish. If it's your style, we can have your guests smiling or laughing along with the bride and groom.
If you think we could work together to make your wedding ceremony unique and engaging, why don't you go to my website and use the Contact button so we can organise an obligation free chat? My fees are very reasonable, so what have you got to lose?

A photo can say it all about a wedding - especially after the couple has been pronounced husband and wife and then, following the signing, introduced as Mr and Mrs. Sarah and Chris felt this way after their recent wedding at one of our local headlands. Let's just say, happiness and relief were probably their primary emotions on that morning - when the sky, less than half an hour earlier, was threatening, super dark and stormy. Of course we did have a backup plan, which is always key to working with Mother Nature.
If you would like an outdoor wedding in a similar location, on a farm, a beach, in a park or even your garden at home, why don't you check out others who have been married by Northern Rivers Celebrant on my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au plus read lots of 5 star reviews? That is the best way to learn about what to expect from my service. If you like what you see and read, then please use either the Contact or Call button for an obligation free chat? I'd be delighted to hear from you and your partner.

Valentine's Day is traditionally the day a romantic partner could "pop the question". Then, before you know it, you'll be thinking about a date, a celebrant, a place ... and so much more. Obviously the date is negotiable ... but once you've decided, and if you want to get married sooner rather than later, the next step, to ensure you get the process right, is to find your celebrant.
To help, why don't you check my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au
for photos, pricing and read Google reviews written by my happy couples?
You'll easily see my style is informal, laid-back and fun! Better still, my fees are reasonable. I'd be delighted to have a chat - first to advise you about the required process; and then about what you want in your unique wedding. The photo attached definitely shows a lovely lady who decided against the totally traditional approach. This bride wore navy and married her husband in a family garden setting. Seriously lovely!

This is my 80th Google review, again with a 5 star rating:
Caz was an incredible celebrant for us, from the day we first contacted her till our big day. Her communication and guidance in everything was amazing. She was able to work with all the unpredictabilities on the day and managed to marry us in the pouring rain! Thanks again Caz.
I'n certain you've all heard the old saying, "A picture tells a thousand words." Well if you look at the photo I'm attaching, I think you'll have a much better understanding of the bride's reference to "unpredictabilities on the day". It was seriously challenging. You can see how badly my clothes are dragging downwards. That's because they were saturated. Furthermore, because the rain was blowing so hard from behind me, it was reaching the inside of the lenses of my glasses. Seriously!! I was having trouble reading the script also because the print began to run. What a day! But have a look at the bride's smile. She was ecstatic, no matter how wet her gown became. Emma and Connor are happily married and at the end of the day, that's all that matters to me.
It's my goal to make dreams come true without exorbitant price tags. So, anyone who knows of someone who is engaged and wants a flexible approach to their marriage plans, please refer them to my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au where they can read the other 79 Google reviews and have a good look at other happy couples married in so many different styles and places. The Contact or Call buttons on my site are the easiest ways to get in touch to begin an easy conversation.

I had an unusual wedding ceremony yesterday morning - yes, on a quiet Sunday morning at 9:30am! The bride and groom have been together for some time and had even had a commitment ceremony years ago, that entailed all the paraphernalia of a wedding, like the white gown, veil, suits, a photographer and lots of guests! Several children later and with another on the way, this lovely couple decided to become legally bound. So, with only close family present, in the bride's brother's house, we made it all legal. The marriage was registered and that Official Certificate of Marriage ordered before lunchtime. Below is a quick snap I took before the bride and groom arrived for their simple legals only ceremony... without one little addition. You see the hanging heart with the comment, "At long last"? Just before we began the service, another was added by the bride's witness with the word, "Shotgun?" That's in the second shot. Don't you love Aussie humour?
If you'd like to do your own unique "thing", whenever or wherever you want to get married, just get in touch with me via my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au or send me a message? It doesn't need to be expensive to do things your way.

I promise Remarkable Farewells! Recently I attended my Aunt's funeral. It had been organised by her children and their families to be held at a Brisbane crematorium chapel. Despite family sharing moving memories, the actual ceremony was disappointing. The chaplain had briefly spoken to the family by phone and obviously had gained no understanding or appreciation for the person my Aunt had been. Generic commentary with no emotion or connection, that's all he presented! I could never let a family down that way! Whether you plan a funeral or memorial for your loved one, know that my genuinely sincere, interested approach combined with modest pricing will be your family's key to a caring, remarkable goodbye. Experience, support for family and storytelling are my strengths. Why don't you check my website for more info: www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au

So here are photos of two lovely couples married by Caz, Northern Rivers Celebrant on Friday 12 and Saturday 20 April. Given so much rain fell during that month, >375mls to be precise, both Lauren and Amine, plus Tayla and Nathan, were incredibly lucky. Stormy weather preceded L & A's wedding at Rous and then the sun broke through. Despite rain overnight and a threatening sky, rain held off until a sprinkle end to T & N's ceremony. Signing the documents at the end of the wedding was very speedy, but fortunately the rain held off until everyone was safely back in their cars and off to the wedding lunch celebration. If you are interested in having an outdoor ceremony, or not, I'd be happy to hear from local couples. Over 60 5 Star Google Reviews written by people who have enjoyed my celebrant services are available to read, if you want to learn more. A visit to my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au will also provide lots of info to help you learn about the marriage process, my approach and my pricing. I look forward to hearing from you. When I first moved to Northern Rivers and began my celebrant practice (and farming), another celebrant referred a couple to me. She told the two brides-to-be that she didn't have a particular form required for the ceremony. I thought that odd at the time, but was totally happy to marry the two women who were delightful and of more importantly, in love. More recently, as in last month, I had a phone call from a bride to be, who asked me, "Do you have an issue with marrying two women?" Of course I don't! My spoken answer was, "You know, when two people are in love, it is my honour to be able to marry them." I didn't go on to say that I believe my job is the best in the world. What could be better than getting to meet happy couples looking toward a wonderful future together? When anyone has decided on the person to spend the rest of her/his life with, that's where I can step in - to make that wedding easy, stress-free, legal and even fun. It doesn't have to be a big, challenging production, you know?
If any of this resonates with you, why don't you check my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au
If you like what you see and read, including my modest prices which are readily available, why don't you click the Contact button and give me basic info so I can call you? An obligation free chat will cost you nothing and perhaps convince you we could work together brilliantly.

Caz is an incredible celebrant. We had just over a month to get organised to coincide with visiting family. Caz walked us through the whole process and ensured that we were all set to go come the big day. We really put Caz up for a challenge with our wedding, as not only was it all a bit short notice, but it was also a surprise ceremony. Caz rose to the occasion and really made it come together for us. She also encouraged us to make it that little bit more special and personalised through the things that she thought of and discussed with us - both during our meetings and over text messages. Of course, the legal side of it was well attended. The ceremony on the day was short and sweet as we requested but also well put together by Caz. We had some little vows prepared and she so conveniently had these printed and handed to us at the right time - so we really didn't have anything to worry about on the day. Everyone who attended the ceremony thought it was fantastic, a truly great day and 'so us' which is really a testament to the work that Caz put into the whole process, from start to finish. -Thank-you Caz

I have another wedding ceremony this afternoon where there will only be 5 of us present. It's interesting how Covid influenced our attitudes to weddings. The idea of eloping with a tiny guest list is becoming a more common choice for couples who have decided it's time. The groom is a tall Dutch man and the bride a lovely, tiny Filipino lady. I feel tall beside her! Having been together for 10 years, I'm so pleased to be able to help them marry before their move to PNG on Sunday 1 December.

My most recent wedding at Shelly Beach was very small - the bride, the groom, 2 witnesses and 5 children. Paula and Ricky wanted to have an easy ceremony that wasn't too long, but still made them feel special. I'll post some people photos of the wedding party later, after they've had time to let all their relatives know they have officially tied the knot. Existing happy memories helped with the choice of location. But this time we signed the official documents while leaning on the front of a big ute. It was serious fun and so relaxed.
If you picture something similar, why don't you go to my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au have a look at photos of other couples I've married and if you like what you see, click the Contact button or send me a message? My fees are stated upfront and are very affordable.

Despite cost of living rises, people who are in love still want to get married. So how can I help you? Well, my commitment to you is that my fees are not high nor outrageous - and good value doesn't mean the service level is any less than that offered by other celebrants who want to charge you a whole lot more. I hide nothing on my website with my pricing clearly noted. More than 50 Google Reviews are available online confirming satisfied couples' experiences. The agreement I prepare for each couple clarifies and confirms exactly what my fee covers, whether you choose a "legals only" wedding (LOW) or a standard ceremony. If you want to add in a traditional or quirky ritual, have someone else read something special or any other option, that's all doable and usually included in the price. So why don't you check out my website www.northernriverscelebrant.com.au for more information?
The photos below show a couple I married in an elopement ceremony, who later had a more "traditional" ceremony in Italy. The groom, who is from Rome, wanted to ensure he and his wife were legally married (in Australia) so all potential problems with official Italian paperwork could be avoided. Why don't you send me a message via my website (use the Contact button) if you'd like to have a chat about your plans? Besides story telling and a sense of humour, flexibility is another of my strengths. 😉

Such a lovely story!

The Red Marbles - A Must Read

I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprising a basket of freshly picked green peas.

I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes.

Pondering the peas, I couldn’t help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

‘Hello Barry, how are you today?’
‘H’lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus’ admirin’ them peas. They sure look good.’
‘They are good, Barry. How’s your Ma?’
‘Fine.. Gittin’ stronger alla’ time.’
‘Good. Anything I can help you with?’
‘No, Sir. Jus’ admirin’ them peas.’
‘Would you like to take some home?’ asked Mr. Miller.
‘No, Sir. Got nuthin’ to pay for ’em with.’
‘Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?’
‘All I got’s my prize marble here.’ ‘Is that right?
Let me see it’ said Miller.
‘Here ’tis.. She’s a dandy.’

‘I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?’ the store owner asked.

‘Not zackley but almost.’

‘Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble’. Mr. Miller told the boy.

‘Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller:

Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me.

With a smile she said, ‘There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever.

When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn’t like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store.’

I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado, but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.

Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his visitation that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could.

Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts…all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband’s casket.

Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket. Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one, each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.

Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband’s bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.

‘Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about. They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim ‘traded’ them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size….they came to pay their debt.’
‘We’ve never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,’ she confided, ‘but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho..’

With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.

It’s not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived. - Helen Walton

What a clever idea as the entrance to an outdoor spot for the ceremony is this? This usually challenges lots of couples who would like to make a surprise entrance.
