Keep kids engaged with activities like travel journals, audiobooks, or road games. Pack snacks, a first-aid kit, and comfort items like favorite toys or blankets. Plan for frequent stops to let them stretch and explore. Involve them in travel plans—they’ll be more excited and cooperative if they feel included. Patience is key!
When towing a caravan, towing mirrors are an essential addition to ensure your safety and compliance with the law. If your caravan is wider than your vehicle, towing mirrors are legally required and should extend enough to give you a clear view down the sides of the caravan, typically allowing visibility 4 meters out at 20 meters back. Opt for mirrors that are easy to install and remove, especially if you plan to take them on and off regularly. Before setting off, make sure the mirrors are securely attached and don’t wobble. Adjust them to ensure you have a clear view of your caravan and surrounding traffic.

Cleaning out your water system will ensure that it's left in good operating order, prolong its lifespan and keep your water supply clean! Build your own packing checklist! // We've all experienced it before, we've packed up the caravan and hit the road only to find out a couple days in we've forgotten to pack that one important item! Whether it was basic toiletries, camping equipment or spare bedding, we understand that pain. This is where building a packing checklist helps with not only remembering all the little things, but with taking the stress of getting ready to leave! A great way to build a comprehensive list that works for you is to start a list and post it on your fridge, then every time you use or see something that normally comes with you when you're in your home away from home, add it on! It'll make packing that much less stressful and help avoid the all too common thought of, did I forget anything we all get 10 minutes down the road.
If your caravan is due for a service or needs some repairs made before it's ready to hit the open road again, come to us! We've been building caravans, servicing and making repairs on them for nearly 50 years and in that time we've seen and fixed just about everything! To book your caravan in, call us on 5352 7073 or email [email protected]!
Secure pets while driving using either a harness or pet crate, avoid leaving them in hot caravans, and always supervise them outdoors, keep them close by around water like beaches or lakes. Be mindful of wildlife, other pets, and campers. Use pet-friendly campsites, carry a pet first aid kit, and ensure pets are microchipped with updated ID tags. Always provide fresh water and shade in hot weather and always pick up after them to maintain courtesy.
We have been building caravans for nearly 50 years. In that time we've built small, one man campers, up to giant 48ft 5th wheelers from the ground up! It's also not just about size, we've created worksite vans, catering caravans, barbecue caravans and much much more! Odds are, if you can dream it, we can build it.
Spring is a great time to get your caravan ready for upcoming adventures. Here are some hot tips to ensure everything's in top shape:
Tyre Check: Inspect tyres for wear, missing nuts, cracks, and correct pressure, including the spare.
Brake and Hitch Inspection: Ensure the towing hitch, breakaway system, and brakes are functioning properly and all lights are working (indicators/breaks etc.)
Battery and Electrical Systems: Check the battery charge, test interior and exterior lights, and ensure all electrical appliances are working.
Water System Check: Clean and fill water tanks, test the pumps, and inspect for leaks.
Gas Safety: Ensure gas bottles are full, check for leaks in the gas lines, and test all gas appliances.
Fire Safety: Test smoke detectors, check the fire extinguisher, and ensure the first aid kit is stocked.
Awning and Seals: Inspect the awning for damage, and check window and door seals to prevent leaks.
Load Distribution: Ensure the caravan is loaded evenly and within the towing capacity of your vehicle.
Registration and Insurance: Confirm the caravan is registered, insured, and that you have all necessary paperwork.
Final Departure Check: Before setting off, double-check that all doors, windows, and hatches are closed, and stabiliser legs are retracted.
These tips focus on safety, functionality, and legal requirements to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey.

Should I get a large caravan? // Obviously larger caravans offer more space for you to enjoy on your trips, but you will need a bigger car to tow it around with. It's also important to consider if you're planning on going off-road, in that case a smaller caravan can be much more convenient. The first step is figuring out your towing capacity. A large caravan is exciting but if you also have to get a new car to tow it that can definitely dampen the excitement. Then you need to consider where it will live when you're not on the road and how much space you want/need to enjoy your holidays.
Does your caravan need a little bit of extra attention? Whether it's a 2 person pod camper or a giant 5th wheeler, our team is more than qualified to help! We can complete services and repairs and get your slice of freedom back up to safety standards so you can go out and enjoy your next trip with peace of mind. Our dedicated workshop is prepped and ready, so give us a call on 5352 7073 or email [email protected] to book in your caravan!

Just contact our team to discuss what you're dreaming of and we'll let you know how we can make it a reality!
Refresh your First Aid Kit! // Make sure you spend the time to double check the contents of your first aid kit, not just that you have one before taking a trip! It's easy to forget you used important items on the last trip, or simply assumed they were in there in the first place! The last thing you want to happen in an emergency is to be missing the one thing that would have helped, or find out it expired last year! Do yourself a favour and take a moment to check your kit before you leave!
Just like all of our caravans, our Worksite Vans can be fully customised! That means whether you need a mobile office, toilet blocks, lunch area or something completely different, we can build it for you! Lubricate Moving Parts // It's important to lubricate moving parts in your caravan to reduce wear and tear which extends their lifespan. Hinges, locks, awning rails and various other moving parts should all be kept lubricated, especially if your caravan is left for long periods of time without use. It's better to put a little bit of work in now rather than pay an avoidable maintenance bill down the road!
