Students can choose from a variety of teaching arrangements including private, semi-private and small group lessons, camps and clinics. All school ponies are regularly fine-tuned to ensure their continuous development and so riders learn the correct technical and coordinative skills and feel. Students have the option to book a lesson with one of the well-trained performance ponies or bring their own horse. In addition, Anne-Katrin offers short-term boarding and training of young and advanced performance ponies furthering their dressage and show jumping education. Anne-Katrin can also travel to students in the North Shore, Hawkesbury and Hills District areas. Anne-Katrin was born and raised in Germany and moved to Australia a decade ago. She established AKL German Riding Ponies which embodies her life’s passion for riding, coaching and the German Riding Pony breed. Two German Riding Ponies, Sterntaler and Vito Dima, were also imported to Australia as part of the establishment of AKL German Riding Ponies. Sterntaler, who Anne-Katrin has now owned for 27 years, is the ultimate ‘one in a million’ schoolmaster. He is trained to the highest levels of dressage and has been ridden by many riders of all ages from beginner to competition level. Vito Dima, is a competitive and licensed German Riding Pony stallion. He was presented at the 2015 Westphalia Stud Book Stallion assessment achieving a Premium Licensing Award. Some of his competition performance highlights include Preliminary Dressage Pony Champion Hawkesbury Show (2014), Novice Pony Dressage Champion and Pony of the Year (2015), NSW Elementary Pony Dressage Champion (2016) and NSW State Reserve Ridden Part Arabian Stallion (2016). He is a versatile stallion with exceptional bloodlines, amazing scope and movement for performance and brilliant rideability. All of this is combined with a wonderful temperament which makes him very sought after for breeding prospects. The stud has also proudly produced two foals to date who were both sired by Vito Dima. Its first foal was a beautiful filly, AKL Valetta, born in 2015 and an exceptionally stunning c**t, AKL Vamos, born in 2019. Anne-Katrin coaches her students in a methodical and systematic way utilizing the knowledge, understanding and practical experience of the principles of the German Riding and Training System. This system has been proven for many generations and continues to be improved to produce the most knowledgeable, professional and successful horse people and riders in the world. Horse enthusiasts and riders progress through the levels of horsemanship and riding. Anne-Katrin wholeheartedly believes it is of utmost importance for all students to understand horse behaviour/communication and develop a balanced, independent and supple seat. Students who can ride from the center of their body and have progressed to use fine-tuned coordinated aids will reach their full potential in their chosen discipline. Learning how to ride and handle a horse systematically develops physical skills and teaches the student to trust themselves, build confidence and subsequently self-esteem. The AKL Competition Rider Team has participated at local competitions with great success. The competition program has given students the chance to demonstrate their abilities, often at their first ever show. It includes the students training and preparation as well as management at the competition. For those who don’t own a suitable horse, the well-trained AKL performance ponies are ready and willing to be a part of the team. At AKL German Riding Ponies students have the unique opportunity to improve their skills by progressing through the German equestrian school levels of handling and riding.
