Conceiving twins is relatively common, and is detected at the early (14-16 day) scan. This video shows us manually reducing a twin, to allow the other embryo to go ahead and develop normally

We have one of the barn cats that got lost at the Armidale Showgrounds last night. He was in Calum’s canopy and jumped out. It was after midnight and they were unable to get him back.
He had a cat bib on at the time but looses it easily.
If you find him please let us know!

Ruptured peroneus tertius
Ruptured peroneus tertius

Ruptured peroneus tertius (part of the stay apparatus that allows horses to lock their hind legs to sleep standing up) is an interesting but relatively uncommon injury. We have seen a few in recent months, they are characterised by a very unique gait and the ability to straighten the hock while bending the stifle (see photo in comments)

This is the sinus flush following the opening. The tube is now staying in and flushes can be done through the following days

This horse presented with a foul smelling nasal discharge After scoping and xraying him he was diagnosed with an infected sinus. The treatment looks a bit medieval but with some flushing and antibiotics he should be as good as new in no time

We are very proud to provide a 100% equine veterinary practice in the New England region. Thunderbolt Equine is a completely mobile practice servicing the area from Bendemeer to Glen Innes, and Bundarra to Ebor.

Equine veterinarian Calum Paltridge is returning home to the New England after several years working in top equine clinics in Queensland and Victoria, and is very happy to be able to provide this service to the horse owners of the region. Joining him is his partner Emilie Faucillon, a qualified equine veterinary nurse who brings a wealth of knowledge from working on several thoroughbred breeding farms and in many world famous equine hospitals.

We have access to the latest in mobile equipments including a portable horse crush, digital x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy, meaning we can provide a full service at your property.
