Just a little bit of the background of Australian ponies, from the a
APSB website.

The Australian pony evolved from a rather complex beginning, a unique breed drawing on the most suitable characteristics of many breeds for over a century. The section was closed to all outside blood in 1960 except for the permitted outcross of APSB Welsh A and B. The result of over a century of breeding has not only produced a beautiful and versatile pony in its own right but one which has formed the basis for the majority of today’s pony breed associations and societies. Ponies to have a marked influence on the breed in the early years include the legendary Welsh Mountain sire GREYLIGHT imported in 1910 and the Welsh pony of Cob Type, LITTLE JIM imported in 1909. Both were Reference sires in Volume One of the APSB and their bloodlines and those of their progeny helped to establish the genetic pool for the Australian pony. Others to significantly contribute to the breed include the imported Hungarian sire BONNIE CHARLIE and the Arabian influence of Barolin Feluka, Lowlynn Silver Chief and the PAYTEN line of ponies through mares such as METEOR, ROSNA, ROYAL DESCENT to name a few.

Rockfields Equine Nursery would like to announce the purchase of a beautiful Australian Pony C**t bred by Emma Spedding at Mahogany Park Pony Stud.

We are absolutely elated with him and have big plans for his future.

He is expected to mature 14hh, and in the next few weeks his color test will come back and we will know exactly what color he is.

Thank you Emma for having us over Friday and showing us around your wonderful ponies.

(He is not 24 hours old in these and the photos do not do him Justice)

The beautiful Robbie has shown up lame so because he may not be fit for purpose for the Barton family we have decided to buy him back. In the next few weeks we will work closely with veterinarians to see if we can rectify the issue🤞if so one of my very good friends will ride him and if not he will retire into uncle mode with my weanlings.
The Barton family and the Rockfields family are devastated about this outcome but hopefully we can get him sound.

I got an up date on how the little Dimsim is going tonight he is such a good boy. 🥰🥰🥰

It was a big day at Rockfields today we sold 4 of our lovely ponies to fantastic homes.

Ariel has gone to a lovely new home to make an 8 year old girl very happy.

Robbie was sold to the same place as his big brother went to, I cannot wait to see what these guys do with him.

Gretel was sold to a mother to ride out with her children.

And my little dim sim (Dom) was sold to a young Mum as a project Pony for her children.

In the early hours of Melbourne Cup Day Rockfields welcomed a new warmblood filly.
She’s a lovely elegant chestnut by Royalty out of our mare Woodleigh Donatella (Wilma).

This foal was bred by Montana as her first go at choosing for herself from the huge range of lovely stallions available in Australia..and shes chosen well...the filly is a lovely mix of both her parents.

Royalty stands at Bloomfield's Farm and is definitely a stallion we'll be using again.

The filly has been named Royal Rendition AKA Remi.

The last week has been quite an exciting week for Rockfields Equine Nursery, with our second confirmed pregnancy, in Woodleigh Fanfare (First Kiss / Cavollo) scanning positive to renowned warmblood stallion Fürst Love (IMP).

We upgraded our horse float, so it can fit large warmbloods.

Robbie (Rockfields Midnight Sun) has been booked in to the Breakers, he leaves next Friday.

We also acquired a lovely 7 year old warmblood gelding to join our ridden team.

Very exciting times ahead.

Our first 2022 pregnancy was confirmed today! By promising young stallion Royalty (Royal Hit/Don Davidoff/Classiker) out of ‘Woodleigh Donatella’ (Don Ramiro/Falkland Victory/Romedio) Who is a full sister to UK exported eventer, William Wordsworth. Very excited!

Our next label to be unveiled features JODIE BARTON and ROCKFIELDS CIOCCOLATA! Jethro to his friends, is an 8 year old Welsh C x Australian pony currently competing medium level dressage and training the advanced movements. Jodie purchased Jethro as a 2 year old and tells us that he was the laziest pony on the planet to break in and has taken quite a lot of convincing that dressage would be fun! Jodie has a keen interest in nutrition and recognises that a simple diet of Harrys Choice Alphafibre with Oxydane and Proflamaid Plus combined with lots of cross training (what pony wouldn't want a gallop as part of their regime?!) will keep Jethro event fit as they move to the higher levels.
