Warragul Show 2025

An enjoyable day today with Flirty producing lovely kind work and Charlee really stepping up as the day went on.

Thank you to the judges, stewards, volunteers and all involved in running a terrific show.

Something very exciting has happened this past week!

For quite a long time, probably since Leo left for his new home, I’ve been looking for a young large hunter pony for myself. Not the usual newcomer that we start and get going for children then find a home - a long term pony that I can really enjoy and take my time with.

I have spoken to so many breeders and haven’t been able to find one that ticked my boxes of being Welsh, up to height, is made to carry a saddle and has a good brain.

Things have a funny way of falling in to place and this week we purchased the gorgeous Welsh B Gelding, Orlando Cast a Spell.

Scotty is by Amaranda Fruit Tingle out of the most divine little buckskin mare, Brampton Bewitched.

Thank you to his breeder, Dale Williamson for allowing us to take him on. It’s clear the time and effort that’s gone in to his handling so far.

Looking forward to slowly giving up my back seat that I’ve acquired for Charlee‘s sake and having my own pony to start.

A beautiful little memory popped up today of Charlee and her unicorn Merivale Park Giorgio. What a dream team they were....making memories and having fun everywhere they went.
So lucky to have had some brilliant ponies from Merivale Park over the years.

Battle of the Borders 2025

A 16 hour round trip for our favourite show. Stunning grounds, a program that runs to time, friendly helpful ring marshals and committee and always such an enjoyable event. Brilliant to see really big numbers and great quality.

Love the top 5 placings and not giving out rosettes just for turning up!

Charlee and Flirt just keep moving forward & it was great to get some good placings in strong classes.

* 5th Preliminary Rider
* 5th open rider 15-17 years with a 3rd off one judge
* 3rd Home Produced Hack over 15hh
* 4th Child’s Hack

Consistent work all show was a highlight and some really thoughtful riding.

We scratched the open as it was too late in the day.

Barastoc Horse of the Year 2025

Another terrific show for MT Flirt and Charlee, improving each time they hit the ring. A nervy start in the childs then turned in to a day of lovely work outs in the Off the Track classes showing more and more of what they are achieving in their lessons, better ring craft and more consistency in their work.

A highlight was definitely their work in the Peter Gahn Memorial. A challenging work out and a huge class of lovely young riders, Charlee was thrilled to place.

They finished their 3 days of competition taking out the Supreme Performer class.

Thank you to Debbie D***s for travelling down later to help us make all our classes and Rebecca Phillips for the tune up and beautiful support for Charlee all show.

If you are one of the very few adult riders who offer kind words, suggestions and congratulate the young riders in these hack classes, you probably don’t realise how much it means to the kids. It’s a daunting world being a little fish in a big pond and each time one of you takes the time to chat to Charlee it makes her day.

Finding all sorts of diamonds in the rough in the paddock this week.
Time for all these 3 year olds to become saddle ponies.
Can’t wait for this boy to hit the ring. He was broken in last year, spelled and ready to start again.

SHCV Horse of the Year 2025

A really positive experience for Charlee and Flirt. The first show where they have shown some glimpses of what they are achieving in lessons.

Charlee is getting more confident and starting to think through her work on this young TB. We really are lucky to have a mare that’s so forgiving and safe for her to learn on.

Big thanks to Mitch Grayson-Bennett for leading Flirt so beautifully and always being so positive and supportive of Charlee.

We opted to scratch the open after a good ride in a very strong childs class. A 3rd from one judge being the highlight.

Lots of personal goals ticked off and some more confidence banked.

4yo medium pony (not officially measured) ready to finish off for the ring.

Professionally broken, spelled and re started with a very basic education. A smart young pony that learns quickly. Easy to catch, very friendly loving nature.

A fantastic project for someone wanting to create a super child’s show pony, where the foundations have been set.

She is entered for Barastoc and is eligible all newcomers as she’s yet to hit the ring.

A reluctant sale due to work time constraints, Charlee wanting to focus on her hack and several ponies waiting to be started.

EV Summer Show 2025

Our first OTT Show and what an enjoyable day. As the heavens opened and joined by plenty of thunder and lightning we decided to finish on a great note after the OTT and scratch the open. My poor gear doesn’t need another drowning - plenty of that already this season.
