Today was a devastating day at The Regal Reptile. After a long battle of intestinal cancer, it was finally time to make the call on Latte’s well-being and quality of life during palliative care. His tumour had returned with a vengeance. If we could put a name to it, we feel robbed, robbed of time with the worlds most placid, puppy like python. Latte was a gentle soul, even during treatments he never once lashed out. He liked cuddles, climbing and lots of attention. We appreciated every moment with him and are so grateful that he was part of our family.

It’s a stark reminder on the health of your reptile babies:
-They hide it so well. Know your reptiles. Don’t wait or ask Facebook if something is wrong. Look for unexplained changes in habit, hiding away, lumps, bumps and other flags.
-Have an emergency vet fund in place. Reptiles are expensive in set up and with medical issues.
-Go with your gut, if it’s off, get it checked.

We thank Dr Luke at the Unusual Pet Vet in Murdoch. He was with Latte from the beginning to the very end.

Happy delivery day to most of you 🥳 the last order is heading up far north later this week. I’m so appreciative of all the support starting this all up! Thank you so so much.

Our next order will be due by Monday the 25th of March for a 26th delivery. Delivery is available but there is also the option to pick up if preferred. For mice and rat orders, please get them in asap if possible as once the suppliers are out they will be out for another fortnight after.

We would like to thank everyone who joined in for The Regal Reptile’s first bug and rodent supply. Hopefully this has eased the cost of owning a reptile baby for you all! Most orders have already been picked up or delivered tonight.

We’ve had a few requests for a second order this coming Monday (for Tuesday availability). Originally orders were going to be fortnightly. If you missed the cut off for this weeks order or would like to order, shoot me a PM and I’ll get onto it for you for next week. For mice, asap and I’ll get whatever I can! They are in short supply at the moment.

Despite her breathtaking ability to always aim for the water bowl while pooping, her vibrant frills of attitude and her princess like decision making on when she accepts pats, the little vampire only had one enquiry. She might not be as cuddly as Freddo was, but she is the typical frilly who demands trust before coming a lap lizard. We’ve decided that Lemon will join our lounge and fill in our last spot permanently. Bring on the sulks when we move her enclosure to the reptile room 🍋

Things have been busy within our reptile lounge. We felt the sting of the pet store food prices, no doubt you have too! The Regal Reptile can now offer bug and rodent orders, with the convenience of delivery 🥳 Orders are placed fortnightly, our first order to the community is this week. Orders need to be in by 11am on Mondays.

Deliveries are available, please see the price lists for more information. For remote deliveries please PM me directly. Message your orders through to The Regal Reptile to let me know what you need, I can also provide bulk orders with in stock item.

We would like to thank everyone that participated as part of our introductory prices. After trialing our starter pricing, we have had to make adjustments to cover costs of fuel and stock. Please see below for our regular pricing and delivery information.

The Lemon post 🍋 many have been waiting for! I am confident she is ready for her new home! Lemon has made a tremendous recovery that has been a joy to watch every day. There are a few notes to consider for Lemon if you are interested. I was seriously considering keeping her, while she might not be super cuddly, this Northern Territory frilly is absolutely stunning.

🌱A committed and continued care on a set diet is needed. Lemon is a proper princess and prefers to eat from tongs with daily fresh vegetables.

🌱Lemon needs an enclosure that is a minimum 1200mm high, 900mm wide with LOTS of logs to climb

🌱 Arcadia lighting and heating is strongly recommended

🌱Lemon is undersized. If you plan to breed her, she is not the frilly for you. While she has tripled in my care, I am doubtful she will ever reach a full mature frilly size. Lemon needs to enjoy life as a pet. A full debrief of her concerns and recovery will be provided.

🌱in the chance that Lemon is not fitting into your home, the Regale Reptile to be contacted first to re-adopt with full money returned (providing she is in good health)

Her adoption covers her cost of purchase and medical costs ♥️ Lemon comes with a care sheet, and her own unique tiara that’s fit for any regal reptile. Please PM if interested.

Not all of our rescues have scales… Meet Cricket, our purebred Alaskan malamute. Following a call with Cricket’s amazing breeder, we went down to have a look at her with Taccoa. Cricket was surrendered back to the breeder in a poor shape. She fit in immediately with the family and has found her forever home. It just goes to show the differences each breed needs. She’s a beautiful girl who has fully recovered, we are so thankful to her breeder for entrusting us to get her perfect again.

Malamutes need specific training and daily care, including different foods, grooming and exercise.

Todays camera victim is Jeff. Jeff is a coastal bobtail and an absolute sweetheart. Bobtails are excellent starter lizards for beginners. 10/10 best decision I made.

Yesterday multiple reptile community forums were rattled by an individual selling a snake with suspected neurological issues, the most alarming factor that the seller/ owner was in complete arrogance if her animals condition. It just highlights the importance of how in tune keepers need to be with their reptile pets. A condition so advanced that a well respected breeder took one look at it and said ‘vet’ usually indicates…. That it needs a vet.

We had our own vet experiences this past week with Latte. He formed a lumped mass that was also advised vet, he was booked in that day with a surgery. Almost four grand later and Latte is on the mend finally. It screams the importance of knowing your animals, as reptiles are so good at hiding them. Shoutout to the amazing members of the reptile community, including Nathan at Great Southern Reptiles for your coaching and help!

🍋 Lemon update- we have finally stopped sulking over the fact that mum changed the light globe last week and started eating again. This minor set back in recovery has impacted his weight. I’m sure with his favourite veggies and bugs that he will go back to recovering. He is able to use his back legs to run and climb quickly now, things are looking good 🦗 still hunting to find his original breeder, his colours are suggesting a Kimberly frilly, pending confirmation.

Update- we have found our amazing breeder, lemon and Freddo are confirmed NT frilled necks
