Today we had a trainer drive 2.5 hrs just to visit her horse, tears were shed by both her and myself the minute she spotted her boy ! Days like today are the reason we do what we do, First and foremost we LOVE HORSES. 💗🏇 🥕🥕
Whilst we do restrict some visitors as there just aren’t enough hours in the day for everyone to visit their horses every day visits like this remind us how special horses are.

Dowling View Equine Centre is looking for an outstanding experienced person to join our team on a regular basis. Casual position
This position is split shift 7:30-12:30 2:45-4:45 some week days and approx every second weekend at similar hours , weekends are non negotiable it is a predominantly weekend position with other weekday shifts possible
The role includes feeding and checking horses cleaning stables and yards and assisting vets etc as required , working independantly and as part of a team with confidant horse handling a must and being able to identify injury and illness

Leg wound update

Thank you to all my staff for helping me care for so many precious horses over the past 12 months , we will all be here working over the holiday period keeping them all safe and well.

The progress of this large leg wound , photos are all approx a week apart the original sutures only held for about 7 days which was more than expected as they were under a lot of tension,
No veterinary intervention during the process , we used the amazing vicsopaste bandage product and it had amazing results.

POSITION VACANT
After 2 years here with us Ellie has decided on a new career path and that leaves Dowling View Equine Centre looking for a new staff member to join it's small team !
The position is FULL TIME 38 hours per week, hours are 7:30 - 2:30 Monday and Friday and 7:30 - 4:45 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (days and hours negotiable to the right applicant)
We are looking for someone with horse handling skills and preference to someone who has worked in racing or a vet clinic.
the role consists of general stable hand duties but not limited to
feeding and checking horses with a HIGH ATTENTION TO DETAIL
medicating horses, recognising sickness and injuries
cleaning stables and yards, filling waters
treadmill exercise of horses (training provided)
assisting farriers, vets and alike.

Dowling View Equine Centre is on the look out for an energetic person to join our small team. As our facilities are ever expanding we need a casual to fill the position of 7:30-12:30 Monday, Wednesday and every second Friday and some weekend mornings.
Main duties will be cleaning stables and yards (with horses in them so must be confident around all types of horses on box rest) but a more experienced person will be offered more responsibility and hours as they become available to cover other staff annual leave.

Equine Rehabilitation
As a horse owner, you know that with horses comes injury and illness. Sooner or later, it is par for the course. The cost of veterinary and associated medication, combined with managing the sick horse, leads to an empty wallet and stress to the owner. Rehabilitating a horse back to optimum health takes not only money but time, skill, knowledge and dedication. It is not for the faint-hearted.
Laura Ratcliffe (nee Dixon) of Dowling View Equine Centre has established a purpose-built rehabilitation centre just five minutes from Ballarat Veterinary Practice in Victoria. Laura’s purpose is to help horses in need of rehab and alleviate the stress and concerns rehabilitating a horse brings to the horse, owner and/or trainer.
Horse Deals spoke with Laura about her journey to becoming a rehabilitation specialist and how her centre assists on the long road to rehabilitation.

THAT CONTAGIOUS won again today after his return to racing from his second stay with us.

SALLY the little Quarter horse, went home today after a 6 month stay with us, she cut her leg down to the bone in a fence and her owners were incredibly patient. Leaving it totally in my hands to manage and care for after her initial surgery to clean up the wound. She did develop a sequestrum but luckily it resolved and didn’t require a second surgery. I have lots of photos of her leg but only her arrival photo of her entirety 😂.
