We are the “Dumpling litter” as our foster carers call us. We were found on the side of the street, wet, cold and hungry. But the nice people at Ballarat shelter took us all in, and we’ve now spent a week with our fummer and fadder (that’s what we call our fake-mummer and fake-dadder, because they’re only looking after us temporarily). We get on great with the bigger dogs in our foster home and while we were a little shy to start with, we now enjoy interacting with our foster humans. Because we are only baby’s, we will get on fine with children in a household as well.

Thank-you for all the interest we've received for the Volunteer Information session.
This is a reminder that you must be over the age of 18 to volunteer to due the high risk environment. We work with unpredictable, difficult (but amazing) animals and our building is itself is a hazard.
Once our new facility is built, we will be able to be more flexible with age restrictions to volunteer.
Please note we've had a large amount of enquiries, the room will be completely full and overflowing.
Due to this we are unable to take cater to any other days if you are unable to attend this one
Volunteer days will be:
Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9am- 4:00pm
If you are unable to volunteer between these hours we can not do any other days due to our busy Shelter.

Meet Izzy..
a spirited and playful 8-month-old female Staffy mix, ready to bring boundless energy and joy into a loving home. Izzy is a very happy, high-energy dog, exuding playfulness and a zest for life.
While still learning her manners with other dogs, Izzy gets quite excited when on a lead and encountering her canine friends. Her enthusiasm may manifest as vocalization, but it stems from frustration rather than aggression – she simply wants to join in the fun and play.
Paired with the right dog, Izzy loves to rough and tumble, engaging in lively play. Living with another dog who matches her energy would be ideal for Izzy. Given her breed, secure 6-foot fencing is necessary to ensure her safety and freedom.

We are seeking Foster Carers for:
Cats-
Can be kittens, anywhere from a week old to 8 weeks. We love sending kittens to foster where they can grow up in a home environment until they are big enough to get adopted.
This can also be for Medical reasons for kittens or Adult cats
Dogs:
We'd love experienced foster carers to house dogs temporarily, this would be for dogs that are struggling in the Shelter Environment and need some further training in a quiet space.
This would need flexibility surrounding adoption appointments and vet checks.

Behind the scenes 🎬 We test every dog before they go up for adoption. Every test looks different, we take different measures depending on each dog to ensure the safety of the dogs and the staff.. This is an example of one Jack, Little foot and Splash all did a great job!!
Meet Harry and Bane Harry is one of our dog handlers at the Shelter. He comes from a dog training background, He has been doing amazing work with the dogs at the Shelter. As you can imagine, many of our dogs that are surrendered are highly driven and have a ton of energy. In this video, this shows snippets of Bane getting an outlet for the pent up energy, then some basic training and obedience. Bane thrives with this, he is a really smart dog that’s so keen to work. He’s come a long way in a short time! Unfortunately we don’t have the luxury of choice with the building we are in and we are itching for the new facility. For info about our new facility can be found in the City of Ballarat Website. Everyday we do our best to give the dogs the enrichment they need to stay sane during the time with us.
As much as we love these cats and will miss them when they’re gone.. all they need is their forever home!
