Did You Know Your Rabbit's Dental Health is Crucial! ๐Ÿฆท๐Ÿฐ

Rabbits are adorable pets, but their dental care is vital for their overall health. Unlike humans, rabbit teeth never stop growing, which means they need regular wear to avoid serious problems like overgrowth and painful dental issues.

๐Ÿ˜ซSigns of Dental Problems:

- Drooling or excessive salivation
- Difficulty eating or weight loss
- Decreased activity level
- Grinding teeth or pawing at the mouth
- Facial swelling or abscesses
- Runny eyes or nose
- Bad breath

๐Ÿฆท Maintaining Dental Health:

1. Diet: Provide plenty of hay and fresh vegetables like kale, spinach, and carrots. Hay is essential as it helps wear down their teeth naturally. Avoid sugary or starchy foods.
2. Regular Checks: Check your rabbit's teeth and gums regularly for any signs of problems.
3. Chew Toys: Offer chew toys to help keep their teeth healthy and strong.
4. Vet Visits: Schedule regular dental check-ups with us.

Why Teeth Overgrow:
In the wild, rabbits naturally wear down their teeth by chewing on fibrous foods. Domestic rabbits need similar roughage in their diet to maintain healthy teeth. Insufficient hay and an over-reliance on pellets can lead to dental issues.

When to Seek Professional Help:
If your rabbit shows signs of dental problems, don't wait. Early detection and treatment can prevent more serious health issues!

Keep your bunny happy and healthy with proper dental care! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿฆท

6 HAY MIX FUNDRAISER
www.rabbitrescue.shop
How many types of hay do you feed your bunny?
The Rabbit Sanctuary is selling our very own โ€œ6 Hay Mix โ€œ because we want to share our secret to good bunny health with everyone who has a bunny.

By feeding the rescue rabbits at The Rabbit Sanctuary lots of different hays, they never get sick with gut stasis. They just love their hays which give them a range of various nutrients depending on the individual hay plus the variety of textures helps keep their teeth ground down.

Please consider supporting our Rabbit Rescue by purchasing your bunniesโ€™ hay from our Rabbit Rescue www.RabbitRescue.Shop!

Calici virus cases in our local area.

๐Ÿšจ IMPORTANT RABBIT UPDATE ๐Ÿšจ

We have had several rabbits present to the clinic recently with suspected Calicivirus. This fatal disease is released frequently in the area as a way to disrupt wild rabbit populations and poses a serious risk to our pet rabbits too. Please ensure your rabbits are up to date with their vaccines and get in touch with any questions you have. ๐Ÿฐ

Did you know that a rabbit's teeth never stop growing? ๐Ÿ‘€

Rabbits don't have dentists, so how do they keep their teeth healthy? ๐Ÿฆท๐Ÿชฅ

The answer is all in their diet!

As you know, a rabbit's diet should consist of 85% hay or grass. This is because the chewing motion of these coarse fibres wear down their teeth naturally, preventing overgrowth and spurring.

Overgrown teeth and spurs are extremely painful for rabbits, which is why a proper diet is vital for - not just their gut health - but their dental health too ๐Ÿ˜
