Microchip Pet Registry company, HomeSafeID, will soon cease to operate online on the homesafeid.com website.

What does this mean?

If your pet’s (dog, cat, reptiles, small animals, horses) microchip has been registered with HomeSafeID, your details will no longer be viewable when their microchip is scanned.

So, if your pet goes missing or is found, vets/councils/animal shelters will no longer be able to view your pet’s ownership details listed on their microchip, making it difficult to reunite you!

If you know your pet is registered with HomeSafeID, you will need to change your microchip registration to another company.

If you know your pet’s microchip number follow the steps below:

1. To find out where your pet’s microchip details are stored, visit petaddress.com.au
2. Log in and confirm the details are correct
3. Apply to register your pet with one of the following Microchip Registry services

❌Bladder stones in a Guinea Pig❌

This little guy is Aidan, who presented as flat, not eating well and had lost some weight.

Diagnostic images identified the cause of his distress which was bladder stones and they were removed.

Aidan is now back at home with his other piggie friends 💖

Magik the day of his cherry eye surgery🍒👀

Cherry eye is the common term for prolapse/ popping out of the third eyelid gland located in the lower medial aspect of the eye.

Surgical replacement is the recommended treatment for this condition as leaving it can permanently damage the eye.

Magik was so brave and is recovering well ❤️‍🩹

IMPORTANT reminder to always stop and check the pouches of deceased or injured Kangaroo’s, Wallabies and Bandicoot’s.

In this case a mother Bandicoot had been hit by a car and a member of the public stopped to look, finding multiple Joey’s in the pouch.

If possible, do not remove the Joey’s from the pouch, instead transport them to the nearest Vet in their mother’s pouch. This ensures they are safe and warm. If the mother is long deceased this would still apply.

The 2 survivors are now with WIRES where they will be cared for before they are released.
