An upsetting & frustrating post I thought I never have to make.
Raising my 3 kids as a single parent is hard. Working in early childhood education is hard. Running a rescue on top of this, is HARD. I do not seek profits for myself, I do not seek anything other than the joy I get saving innocent lives & educating the community on stopping the endless and cruel cycle of stray breeding and backyard breeding. Seeing these broken, fragile, helpless kittens survive, to then thrive within your beautiful homes is my ONLY goal.
Recently I was fined by our local council for not registering 2 adult cats in time. 1 had been abandoned on the side of the road. Not microchipped, not desexed. The other a family was trying to rehome however was not microchipped. My one strict policy within Little Beans is to always ensure our cats are desexed and microchipped, so these cats were both desexed and microchipped. However because I had not registered them on time (more money), I was sent two fines.
These fines total $660.
This week I sent revenue a request for leniency, stating my good intentions, my busy schedule and my hopes for some compassion. This morning my request was denied.
My heart hurts. Genuinely. All my well intentions, all my hard work, all the beautiful stories I’ve seen come from such awful situations crushed by people who do not see, nor understand the effort, the community and the good. I now have to use $660 of my personal funds, 2 weeks before Christmas to pay these unnecessary fines.
My reasoning behind this long post is not to seek sympathy, but an understanding. I do hope that those who impose consequences on others really take a good look at the entire situation with more kindness and compassion, in any situation.
Anyways, here is a photo of Aspen. Aspen is still looking for a family to take her home for Christmas!
