Changing out the grass in the northern bobwhites
We're clearing and leveling a space for another raised garden bed. So, as thought it'd be perfect to give the quail in the aviary their own piece of lawn!

Here are a few more stages of fresh greens we have growing for the quail! π±
We enjoy giving growing fresh plants to offer our aviary quail for enrichment and to provide a balanced diet. We remove these marigolds when all the flowers can been eaten and then wait until they grow back to rotate it back in.
We do this with marigolds, a range of herbs, grass, weeds and a sprout mix. So they always have something green and fresh to eat along with their regular gamebird feed
The chick department is up and running again for the first time this season!

We pride ourselves in ensuring the quail are cared for, comfortable and content by giving them an environment that allows them to have natural behaviours promoting their welfare.
They really enjoyed the fresh, clean dirt from the pile we have! Not only does it allow them to clean their feathers and regulate the oils in them, but by pecking around they find insects, worms and beneficial little pieces of pebble to help with digestion(just like grit).
