Samoyed’s are not a breed I’m very familiar with but wow isn’t she beautiful & yes smart. I’d be quite happy to own one…what a stunner!!
Once we’d ditched the harness & didn’t reinforce her barking, jumping & pulling, she was a much happier, easier dog to walk & generally be around.

I love being part of the Therapy Dogs Australia team.
Congrats to both teams for passing their assessment with me.

Kim & Halo have recently completed their TDA course & this was their assessment to finalise completion of course & their graduation. Kim is starting up an Equine Therapy Centre & Halo will be a big part of this team. Lucky I have horses that were part of this assessment. All were on their best behaviour.

Heather & CC are an experienced team, working together for a few years now within a school. CC brings so much joy to the school environment & Heather continues to help educate children not only on school work but how to behave & interact with & around dogs. This was their yearly behavioural assessment that they passed with flying colours. They have grown so much together & it’s a real joy to be part of their journey.

Zoey has gotten herself a reputation….being unpleasant around other dogs.
Being a GSD, her barking & lunging can make people understandably feel very uncomfortable & nervous.
Took things slowly but this was the end result.
Couldn’t ask more from my girl Millie, She’s the best training companion ❤️

When your dog is anxious about something in their environment or about following a cue to do something, the last thing they need from us is saying “it’s ok, you’ll be ok”.
In saying this, we just reinforce their anxiety & fail our dog in giving them a solution to the anxiety.

We have 2 options…….
1) Move your dog away from person, place or thing, creating distance & reducing anxiety immediately. You can work on proximity & desensitising slowly over time.
2) Having built a foundation of trust & consequences with your dog in everyday training over time, encourage your dog to follow your cue. Never force their decision but make the right choice easy & the wrong choice a bit harder.

It’s amazing how much confidence your dog will develop in themselves & in you…..a fair, clear & consistent leader.
