If your dog or cat is in pain, you want to do everything in your power to make them better.
Ibuprofen and Paracetamol help us relieve our pain and inflammation, but our pets metabolize medications very different to us. So if your pet is struggling, you may want to give them a pain killer, as they are generally a safe drug, but this is not the case….
Ibuprofen is toxic to both cats and dogs and can cause stomach ulcers, anemia, kidney failure, seizures, coma and death.
Paracetamol is extremely toxic to cats and should not be given under any circumstances. A vet may prescribe Paracetamol to a dog but it is important to follow instructions fully as the dose rate is very different to humans.
If you are worried about your pets pain, please call to book an appointment with your vet.
