Introducing our latest babies!
Noel is a playful little boy.🎄
V***n is a very sweet little girl who has a bit of an overbite but it doesn’t affect her eating or playing. ❄️
Our little white duo, Dasher and Cupid. They are very sweet but will definitely need to be indoor only cats. 🍭
Cheeky little Comet, the fluffy little boy that just loves a snuggle. 💫

Call in to meet these adorable babies. They are all vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and have had a flea treatment.
The cost is $150.00 each, which also includes desexing (once they are at a suitable age).
Our little sweethearts would love to find their forever homes 🐱🎄

We wish all our wonderful clients and their pets a safe and happy Christmas! 🎄 🐶

The DIVA program stands for Desexing, Identification & Vaccination Assistance. It offers heavily discounted rates for cat desexing, vaccination, microchipping and free registration. DIVA Cats is open to eligible low-income residents and those wanting to adopt a stray and those caring for community/colony cats.

30/09/2024

After over 20 years of dedicated service, Dr. Ewald Jooste has announced his retirement from Stewart Street Veterinary Hospital, effective at the end of October 2024. Dr. Jooste has been an integral part of the Bathurst animal community, and during this time the practice grew from three to eleven vets.

Reflecting on his time at the hospital, Dr. Jooste shared:

“It has been a joy and privilege to work with many wonderful animals and their equally wonderful owners, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and the trust of the community. The care and dedication of the Stewart Street team have been a constant inspiration and have been instrumental in the growth of our practice.”

Dr. Jooste also expended on the hospital's expansion:

“Our size now enables us to offer advanced services and training that are often only available in larger urban centers. I'm also proud that Stewart Street is one of the few practices west of the Blue Mountains that provides an after-hours emergency service to our clients.”

As Dr. Jooste transitions into retirement, he looks forward to spending more time with his wife, Charmeon, and their three children—Ewald, James, and Alicia—who are spread across three continents. He also plans to reconnect with his roots in South Africa and pursue his passion for nature conservation. Additionally, Dr. Jooste hopes to occasionally take up locum work when opportunities arise.

We wish Dr. Jooste all the best in this next chapter of his life and thank him for his outstanding contribution to the veterinary field and the community.

Did you know that a baby echidna is called a puggle? 🥹

It’s echidna breeding season and this means that they are on the move! This time of year a lot of people come across our spiky friends in unusual places, even in your back yard. It is really important that you do not relocate an echidna if you come across one. Echidnas have an inbuilt GPS and know exactly what they are doing at this time of year to prepare for their young.

So please, if you find one in your yard, don’t move it! Protect it as best you can from your pets, especially dogs, while it makes its way through. And if you are unsure about any situation with an echidna it is best to call WIRES to seek advice.
