After over 20 years of dedicated service, Dr. Ewald Jooste has announced his retirement from Stewart Street Veterinary Hospital, effective at the end of October 2024. Dr. Jooste has been an integral part of the Bathurst animal community, and during this time the practice grew from three to eleven vets.
Reflecting on his time at the hospital, Dr. Jooste shared:
“It has been a joy and privilege to work with many wonderful animals and their equally wonderful owners, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and the trust of the community. The care and dedication of the Stewart Street team have been a constant inspiration and have been instrumental in the growth of our practice.”
Dr. Jooste also expended on the hospital's expansion:
“Our size now enables us to offer advanced services and training that are often only available in larger urban centers. I'm also proud that Stewart Street is one of the few practices west of the Blue Mountains that provides an after-hours emergency service to our clients.”
As Dr. Jooste transitions into retirement, he looks forward to spending more time with his wife, Charmeon, and their three children—Ewald, James, and Alicia—who are spread across three continents. He also plans to reconnect with his roots in South Africa and pursue his passion for nature conservation. Additionally, Dr. Jooste hopes to occasionally take up locum work when opportunities arise.
We wish Dr. Jooste all the best in this next chapter of his life and thank him for his outstanding contribution to the veterinary field and the community.
