Poor Pespi got a grass seed in her eye, we put a fly mask on her to keep the flies away but she managed to scratch her eye ball with it so things got worse. For the last 3 days she has had to have two different drops in her eye, 8 or more times a day. On the first day she was extremely non complaint, throwing her head around, barging into us, rearing and kicking out. We quickly realised we had to have her co-operation otherwise we were not going to be able to keep up the treatment without stressing her out and someone getting hurt.
Rhi and I had a chat to Pepsi and explained the situation, Rhi did have to back her up once, when she barged into us and then we explained the situation again and showed her the drops and slowly asked for her co-operation and when she gave it she got lots of treats. Since then she has been so co-operative that it only takes one person to do the drops now. We do have to pay for the cooperation with love and scratches though. I adapted her fly mask so that she can’t scratch her eye again and the sun is not in the eye while it heals.

The beautiful Ginger and her handsome son Napoleon Dynamite we’re a hit today at the HMAS Cerberus House open day.
I am so proud of Ginger and how far she has come from the terrified little rescue pony that was dropped at our house late one night.
She is now a brave and trusting little unicorn.
Napoleon has his mums beautiful temperament and behaved perfectly despite all the little hands dripping with watermelon juice being waved in front of him.

Magnum is a stunning solid boy. He was started late in life, in early 2024, so has been able to grow without strain or injury and is ready to go on and do anything with the right person, he just needs the time and further training.
He went to pony club in June and was a champ, happy to try everything, even cross-country ditches, water jumps, logs and brush fences. He is a really willing, sensitive and intelligent, loving beautiful boy. Perfect to float, a little tetchy with the farrier but once he has his foot up, he just stands for the trim.
Stunning boy with no nasties, he just needs his own person and we have too many ponies and not enough time.
Not for beginners, he needs someone who knows what they are doing to put some more miles on him.
Get yourself a best friend for life.

We had an awesome day at our EFL mini horsemanship holiday program. The weather was beautiful and all the animals seemed excited that Spring had finally arrived.
My favourite quote of the day was from someone who hadn’t planned to attend and decided to stay when they dropped of their sibling - “I can’t stop smiling, I am so happy to be here! I definitely want to come again.”

Day 2 of our EFL Holiday Program was awesome! The weather played nice and all the children and ponies were brave, adventurous, respectful, supportive, creative, patient and helpful. I was very proud of my ponies and of the awesome children who came to play. I can’t wait for our next pony play day.

Despite the driving rain and unseasonably freezing weather, we had lots of fun at yesterday’s EFL/Farm holiday program. Even Chicken joined in and enjoyed being dressed up.

A little bit about us.
My name is Sam and 😁 I am Level 2 certified with the Australian Equine Facilitated Learning organisation, have relevant insurance, WWCC, full current first aid, I have done the NDIS modules and have over 30 years experience with horses.
I have a 29 year old daughter with a rare metabolic disease and a 19 year old daughter Rhiannon (pictured) who is involved in training our horses and helping in the EFL sessions and farm experiences.
I grew up with horses and have always loved animals and my daughters have inherited that from me.
When my daughters were young they started Equine Facilitated Learning and I saw the positive effect it had on their relationships and lives. I decided then to take the steps to be able to help others grow and learn through positive interactions with horses.
As a family we got involved in helping a horse rescue and ended up rescuing a number of horses ourselves and through EFL those horse are able to help others.
Rhiannon has grown up around horses and now works in the industry starting and training. She has a WWCC and full first aid, has done the NDIS worker modules and is studying a certificate in animals studies and to become a riding coach.
