ps we have a few new baby budgies these little guys are so quiet they would not leave my hand when I was transferring them ... so sweet 😍
We also have the smallest, sweetest, cutest, cuddliest chickens ever available, they are Belgian d’Uccle. These chickens are known for having a friendly and docile personality. They are calm and gentle, making them a good choice for families with children. They are curious, enjoy human interaction.

Breaking news!! Ted is a Lakenvelder (thanks Roger ) these are a Heritage Breed
Lakenvelder chickens are white birds with black tails, hackles, and primary and secondary feathers with black inner webbing.

They also have a beautiful blue-gray under color that gives the appearance of a shimmering effect.

The breast of the Lakenvelder chicken is round and plump, and their skin is white as well.

Aside from their feathers, Lakenvelder chickens have medium-length slate shanks and slate toes.

They have short thighs, medium-sized single-red combs, red eyes, and dark horn beaks.

So if you want some super cool unusual chooks take Ted home x

This will probably ruffle some feathers... the truth hurts... the racing industry is the number one culprit... the western horse world or any discipline where money is involved isnt too far behind.
OK.
There is alot in this, and ill do a few posts about it. BUT the NUMBER ONE thing we need to do is stop normalising breaking in a 16 MONTH old horse.
That is 1 year and 4 months old
They are BABIES
This BABY horse is rearing and striking and stressing because it is overwhelmed - but more on the training aspect of this later.
Their little spines are not equipped to handle a rider at this young age
Their little mouths aren't even finished teething
Parents - you know how stressful it is when your baby is teething ? How they run a fever and get fussy because they are IN PAIN - that's just a small part of what this little horse has to go through but with the added pain of a human trying to pull a bit around in their mouth for direction.
This should be illegal, they are baby horses that are not equipped mentally or physically for this type of work.
So why do they win Tanja ? WELL if you listen to mate on the video he says 5 in 100 are worth pursuing as horses that will make a racehorse - that's a 95% - I repeat that's a NINETY FIVE PERCENT failure rate.
Australia will register about 18,000 thoroughbreds for the 2024 year.
That means that 17,100 - OVER SEVENTEEN THOUSAND won't make it.
From one year.
Do you know where most of them go ?
Dog food.
Im not so naive to believe we will stop racing anytime soon, but we dont have to support the abuse and wastage of these beautiful horses.
Increase prize money for older races
Offer bonus' for mature horse races
Criminalise starting a horse under 24 months (that's 2 and its still too young but its a start).
Yes this goes for all industries, im highlighting racing today because Ladbrokes.com.au have promoted this to their followers who aren't all horse people - non horse people dont see the issue here because videos like this normalise it.

Please help to prevent poison and insect spray killing unintended beneficial insects.
We have had queen bees die along with worker bees and neighbouring hives ïżŒhave experienced the same, the whole hive will eventually die and it’s usually because she has been fed poison baits intended for wasps or ants.
If you’re targeting wasps don’t use a sweet bait.
If you’re targeting ants please put it in a bee free spot, ie indoor or in a container that bees can’t get in.
Ant rid has two important things to note on the label, “for indoor use” and a statement about how it’s taken back to the nest and kills the queen.

Cockatoos are very popular pet birds with personalities as flashy and dynamic as their crest. While these birds may be best known for the fan of feathers that they display on tops of their heads, there are plenty of other fun and fascinating cockatoo facts for bird lovers to focus on.
A cockatoo's contact call can be heard for up to 1.6kms or more away. This is especially true early in the morning and near sunset when they would naturally call out in the wild.

Because they have extremely boisterous voices, cockatoos are not recommended for people who live in small spaces. Bringing one home to an apartment complex or a townhouse can quickly splinter good relations with your neighbors.

Pet cockatoos have a propensity for weight gain and obesity. To prevent this, it's important to carefully monitor your bird's diet.

Cockatoo owners are typically encouraged to offer their birds only minimal access to seed. Instead, it's best to feed your bird a variety of fresh, bird-safe fruits and vegetables. You can also reserve items such as nuts and ​bread for treats and refrain from including them in a bird's daily meal offerings.

Offering things to chew on eg toys, tree branches, pine cones, banksia pods, bamboo, etc is a great way to keep your bird busy and happy.
Rotating a variety of toys for your bird to play with will help out tremendously. This will help him stay engaged and burn off some energy tearing apart appropriate things. Some cockatoos will even develop an attachment to objects or begin to exhibit nesting behavior with their toys.

Most cockatoos can certainly be taught to speak, though they're not the most proficient parrots in this area. Also, it's important to remember that not every bird will talk, so that should not be a primary reason to adopt any bird.

In general, a talkative cockatoo may learn 20 or so words and simple expressions over the years. With training, they will begin to associate certain phrases with specific circumstances as well. Even though they won't know the meaning of "Good morning," for instance, a bird can learn that this is said when the sun rises or their person wakes up.

You will also hear them babble incoherently quite often. This chatter is a really fun part of life with a cockatoo, even if he learns no real words.

We purchased this business September 2013, from Riddle’s who were based in Hillwood, it was primarily a delivery service. I started off in a 9m x 6m shed operating from my home in Beaconsfield, I expanded the product range and continued operating as a delivery service.

We purchased the shop front in 2015 and began operation as a store in July, while continuing the delivery service. The product range has grown in leaps and bounds. I truly love what I do, and enjoy meeting my customers pets. We are now selling birds, cockateils, budgies, finches, canaries, quail, indian ring necks, and lovebirds.
