They are naturally attracted to lavender with its vibrant shades of purple and blue. Lavender flowers are long lasting and can be relied upon to flower for most of the year. Flowers to Encourage Native Bees to your Garden

Native bees forage for food from early spring to late autumn. You can encourage them to visit your garden along with their insect friends by providing a smorgasbord of flowers and native plants to choose from that includes nectar and pollen. Include plently of white, yellow, blue and purple, these colours will tantalise the taste buds of the native bees.

Suggestions on what to plant:

Long flowering season annuals, perennials, and herbs like phacelia, sweet peas, feverfew, abulia, salvias, citrus and mint.

Early spring flowers like calendula, wallflowers, herbs and lavender.

Late summer and autumn flowers like asters, alyssum, chicory, coriander, parsley, basil, dill, borage, and plectranthus.

Australian natives like eucalypts, tea trees, wattles, Australian bluebells, fan flowers, christmas bush, bottlebrushes, boobialas, native buttercup, emu bushes, native lilac, hardenbergia, and bush peas.

Native bees love white, yellow, blue and purple flowers.

Don’t forget, make sure your garden has a native bee hotel for all those bees to have a rest after a big feed.
