💥💥PARVOVIRUS WARNING TO ALL DOG OWNERS💥💥

🔴There has been an outbreak of Parvovirus within the Nambucca Valley. This virus is highly contagious and CAN spread rapidly.

🔴Main symptoms are severe diarrhoea and vomiting with blood.

🔴Treatment can be expensive as the patient is under intensive veterinary care with constant intravenous fluids and a cocktail of medications several times a day; the dog has to be kept in isolation and they are usually in hospital for an extended period of time.

🔴If your dog has not been vaccinated in the last 12 months we recommend you get them vaccinated ASAP. Parvovirus is deadly and vaccination gives your family dog the best protection which is what they deserve.

🔴If your dog is not vaccinated keep them at home, don't take them out or let them mix with other dogs.

🔴If you think your dog has symptoms DO NOT BRING THEM INTO THE CLINIC. Please first let our reception staff know and they will arrange for a vet to see your dog outside of the clinic.

Pet Safety on Halloween 🎃 🎃

While Halloween is a fun, festive time for us, it can be overwhelming for our pets with all the costumes, visitors, and treats. To make sure your furry companions stay safe and happy, here are some tips from Bellingen Veterinary Hospital

👻 Create a Calm Space: Trick-or-treaters and constant doorbell rings can be stressful for pets. Keep them in a quiet room with their favourite toys and bedding to help them feel safe and reduce the risk of accidental escapes.

🍬 Keep Treats Out of Reach: Chocolate and lollies contain toxic ingredients like Theobromine and Xylitol, which can cause vomiting, seizures, and other serious health problems for pets. Be sure to store these away from curious noses.

🎃 Pet-Proof Your Decorations: Festive decorations can be fun for us but dangerous for pets if they chew or swallow something harmful. Keep decorations pet-safe and out of reach.

🐕 Consider Your Pet’s Comfort: While dressing up is fun for us, costumes can make pets uncomfortable and hinder their ability to communicate through body language. If your pet seems anxious, opt for a festive bandanna instead of a full costume.

👗 Social Situations: Even if your pet is normally friendly, seeing people in strange costumes might make them anxious. Give them space and time to adjust to the new surroundings.

By taking these precautions, you can ensure a safe, stress-free Halloween for your pets.
