After many visits to south Africa and seeing the need for Quality Taxidermy i decided to move my Australian based company, North American Taxidermy Specialists to south Africa, it was a 2 year planning operation but finally i had the go ahead from the south African government, on September 8th 2001 i landed at Durban airport and awaited the delivery of my 12 meter container on the sea for already
6 weeks, this container held my whole life and future it was full of all my years of work a full showroom of mounted specimens from all over the world. well as we all know and will never forget 3 days after arriving September 11 happened, what a shock and this was to be one of many obstacles i would face here in my new choice of country. my container arrived 2 weeks later and was delivered to Howick Kwa Zulu Natal where i found a large warehouse to work from, i later bought it and opened my new business under the name of Spirit Of Africa Taxidermy. the first day i opened the doors for business a Ute/Bakkie/Pick up Truck pulled in and dropped off 15 waterfowl for mounting, this was a great start to my new future in a new country. from that day onward my new business Spirit Of Africa Taxidermy prospered and my name spread like a wild fire across the Continent , before i new it i had 9 people working for me, trucks would pull in and leave 30 to 40 trophies at a time and i was exporting Trophies all over the world. in 2008 i decided to sell Spirit of Africa Taxidermy, there where a few reasons but the main one was my health, i had been teaching for several years and one of my students Gidion who was now working for me decided to buy it with his family, it was a smooth transition and i was available to consult to them whenever they needed me to. Spirit Of Africa Taxidermy still operates today and have become a leader in the Taxidermy industry.
