Frank update!! He seems to have settled in and is doing ok. We think he prefers his current situation to his previous “abattoir floor while mum awaited death”.

It seems Frank is a big fan of Zeus. Cuddled up on the couch and they both love a sleep! Frank is doing well, he dances quite a bit and even grabbed a selfie!

“Doc Holiday” arrived with “Frank” after also being born while his mum awaited slaughter at the abattoir. He enjoyed the ride with his little buddy and blessed us with his presence for a short time. Even though he was told he could stay, Doc decided this world wasn’t for him and decided to leave to be with his mum. He did not die alone and knew that someone cared before he passed.

Little “Frank” was born at the abbatoir while his mum was awaiting slaughter. Ending up with the awesome crew along with plenty of others. An up and down first week, but Frank is doing ok. He may be tiny, but he’s super chatty, hangs with the dogs and loves a sleep (after a dance)!

Our friends Starting Over Dog Rescue have issues with the rescue vehicle. They save 1,000’s of dogs each year. Without them, they wouldn’t have survived. We’ve known them for over 10yrs.. They started us on the rescue path that lead us to our own place.. we need to get them back on the road.. Donate some coffee money.. certainly a worthwhile cause..

Today we had the pleasure of transporting this sweet girl. A pound rescue by the super crew - little “Angie” was super sweet and relaxed and enjoyed the 1 1/2hr trip. No doubt she will find an amazing home and live a great life!

The animals deserve better…. 😞

In relation to the photos we have posted today, under the album titled, No. 3. Protection from Climatic extremes, natural disasters and preditation.
We will be creating albums in reference to the Code of Accepted Farming Practice for the Welfare of Sheep(Victoria)(Revision Number 3). As provided by Agriculture Victoria.
These albums will show, that a recommendation is not enough, and that they need to be a requirement by law.
Here is a link if you would like to read these Practice's:

And here is a dear old ewe, who will live out her natural life without ever wanting for shade, shelter from the cold, food or medical attention.

Please be on the look out..

As Bendigo braces for hot days over the next two days, we urge everyone to be vigilant and proactive in ensuring the welfare of animals that are vulnerable to heat under current farming practices. Sheep and cows are particularly vulnerable to heat stress, with sheep suffering at temperatures over 26°C and cows at 32°C—conditions worsening especially for animals in feedlots and sale yards.

🐑🐄 If you notice any properties with sheep or cows that lack adequate shade or water, it's imperative to act immediately. Complaints should be directed to the Animal Health Officer at your local Agriculture Victoria office.

Please keep an eye out for the animals. Reporting can be anonymous. If needed - message us and we will report for you.

We've got our first pop-up desexing clinic for the year booked in!

This time we are on the road in Huntly, Bendigo with some help from our wonderful friends at Bendigo Animal Welfare & Community Services

Desexing is offered to anyone who is the recipient of government assistance or holding a valid concession or health care card.

Where possible we are asking for a small donation of $35 per cat to keep our costs covered.

If you or someone you know could use this service and would like to book please call us on 0493 447 394 ASAP as spaces are strictly limited.

🐾 Can you help spread the word? 🐾

We appreciate that a lot of people who may be able to use our service don't necessarily have the time or access to the internet and Facebook so if you can share this information in your local community, it would be greatly appreciated!

Ideal places to share this information are local community services, shopping areas, local noticeboards and outreach services.

Thank you to everyone for your support and kindness ❤️
