At Fur Life Eaglehawk Road our clients and patients are our top priority. We establish rapport with clients through communication, concern for their pet’s welfare, and the expertise and equipment to ensure the best care for their pet. The outcome of

veterinary treatment can vary from absolute joy to desolate sadness. Whatever the result, it will be achieved with our best effort. A reminder to all our clients to be aware that our pets can get quite anxious when hearing fireworks

Please ensure your pets are safe with these tips and tricks:

- Distraction with treats
- Avoid leaving them outside alone
- Update your microchip details (escapes!)
- For the highly anxious consider medication

Feel free to call us for more help if you think your furbaby may need some anxiety medication

REMINDER - resist the “puppy dog eyes” !!

Although they are adorable, please resist feeding your pets any Christmas food over the holiday period!

Plenty of traditional Christmas dishes like ham & roast meat are quite high in fats and salts (all the yummy stuff 😉) & desserts like christmas pudding can unfortunately make our fur babies quite sick!

Even the smallest portions of these foods can cause conditions like dehydration, diarrhoea, pancreatitis & kidney failure - prevention is better than cure!

Avoid an unexpected trip to the vet by resisting the puppy dog eyes this Christmas 🥹🎄

The Blocked Cat….

A blocked cat (ie. urethral obstruction) is an emergency situation for our feline friends & we want to help our clients to understand the symptoms of a blocked cat so that they can be seen to promptly - as time is of the essence with these cats!

When a cat is becoming blocked they find it hard to urinate, passing only small amounts at a time which can develop to passing nothing at all, this becomes quite serious as their bladder becomes so full it can rupture

Signs & Symptoms:
- Straining to urinate
- Painful urination (loud meows)
- Frequent trips to the little tray
- Blood in urine
- Lethargy
- Loss of appetite
- Painful abdomen

It is quite beneficial to familiarise yourself with these symptoms as prompt veterinary treatment can be lifesaving!!

These nasty bad boys will embed themselves anywhere!!

Little miss Daisy had 3 grass seeds embedded in her ear which had to be removed under sedation!

Allergic reactions from bee stings are a common presentation for a vet clinic, and if left untreated, they may lead to more serious respiratory issues

This little cutie Minnie came in with symptoms of an allergic reaction from a bee sting, luckily she was seen to quickly by Dr Kellie & she made a full recovery! 🐶

If you suspect your pet has been stung by a bee, be sure to call us so we can chat to you about symptoms & treatment! 🐾
