One assistant dog task lilly helps with is taking off socks.
This is a good task for people that can’t reach down to do themselves or have problems with balance etc.
This is a example why i prefers real grass to scatter kibble than sniff mats or bowls.
Smart dogs like my herding breeds just cheat and chuck it around to empty out.
With real grass we have to work harder and is rooted in the ground so they’re not able to cheat.
This may look like just plodding along but from where Lilly was at over a year ago is a massive improvement! There was some other people and dogs at this park too, doing their own thing which didn’t worry her. It would have sent Lilly off into a meltdown before all our hard work. Am so proud of the progress Lilly has made. 🥰
Approaching corners on a waking track is a great way in practicing ‘to me’, ‘get behind’, ‘heal’ and ‘leave it’.
This is also great with anxious, reactive or aggressive dogs to give them a job to do and your instructing the walk keeping everyone safe.
I usually say leave it when someone is passing. Leave it is also great if there’s something on the trail or bait or even wildlife and ducks. Teaching them to respect and leave wildlife alone. Especially great for herders or other dogs breed for chasing things.
Miss Bree is in a middle down position. She is a assistant dog in training. Look at that engagement!
Bree is learning to watch behind. This is often used with assistance dog handlers in public if they have their back to public such as at a atm and if they suffer from anxiety or cptsd etc.
Miss Bree is a assistant dog in training and learning well. Here she’s in a middle down position. Look at that engagement!
Check out that loose leash walking!
a massive difference than a month ago especially around triggers!
