We had to say goodbye to our gorgeous boy Doug today.
It's been one of the hardest days of my life. I feel incomplete without Doug, as he's been my partner in crime for the last 11 years. I'm sharing this news as he may have inspired you along the way as he has inspired me. We learned so much together, and I could never repay him for bringing me along on his journey.

๐ฃ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ are a great way to get started with your dog's training, building a happy, long-lasting two-way relationship.
You not only get to work on communication, ownership style, and exercises to avoid any future problems, but you also receive one-on-one attention to manage the type of breed you have and how to work with your dog's drive.

Playing mental stimulation games with dogs is essential for their cognitive health and overall well-being. These activities prevent boredom, reduce stress, and enhance the bond between dogs and their owners. It's a fun way to provide exercise for their minds, keeping them mentally sharp and engaged. Moreover, mental games contribute to better obedience and problem-solving skills, making them an invaluable addition to a dog's daily routine, regardless of their age or breed.

Introducing people and dogs, whether it's a new dog meeting a new person or your dog meeting someone for the first time, should be done carefully to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved. Here are some steps to follow:
Instruct the person on how to approach your dog calmly and avoid sudden movements or loud noises.
Choose a quiet, controlled environment for the introduction. A neutral location, such as a park, can be ideal.
Keep your dog on a leash during the introduction, especially if you're unsure of how they will react.
Approach the person and dog calmly and confidently. Dogs can sense your energy, so it's important to be relaxed.
Let the dogs sniff each other if they're both comfortable with it. This is how dogs get to know each other.
Watch both dogs' body language closely. Look for signs of anxiety, fear, or aggression. If either dog shows signs of distress, separate them and try again later.
Reward your dog for good behavior during the introduction with treats and praise.
Keep the initial meeting short and positive. If things go well, you can gradually increase the time they spend together.
Continue with supervised interactions and positive reinforcement to build a positive association between the new person and your dog.
Remember that every dog is different, and their comfort levels with new people can vary. Alw

Mid term fun with the dogs last Saturday with an obstacle course.
'Drop' or 'Down' is one of the important exercises to get it down pat (pardon the pun ๐)
Once perfected, dogs can do it with you getting their attention. So many benefits including help with Obedience exercises like 'Drop On Recall' or 'Change of Position' etc

Once your dog knows the verbal command and the corresponding hand signal well as a combo, it's time to eliminate the hand signal and give only the verbal command. This helps

Thank You everyone for such a great year. You all have been amazing. Your love and support makes me want to keep working hard. In the last class today, I could see the love and support we have for each other. And those Christmas outfits were santastic ๐
See you all next year.

My dog Doug's command "Do it" allows him to mark a tree or a pole. Its a very beneficial command to teach if your male dog pulls you towards every single tree or pole.
Putting a behaviour on a verbal cue/command can help to control some unwanted behaviour. I certainly wouldn't like my dogs marking my neighbour's mailbox.

Out of Sight Stay - where the handler will go out of sight of the dog while its in stay.
Great display of this exercise by the Advance dogs. I have Sonny (Border Collie x Lab) and Occy (Labradoodle) showing it in this video.
