Hello to my FurFamily

Thank you for your patience while I have been away dealing with my medical situation the past 2 weeks.

I am back to work starting tomorrow and have begun making adjustments to my calendar to move forward people who were booked for the end of my leave and open spots that are left available.

For this week, there are 4 appointments available that can be booked online, using the link below or if you are a returning customer, comment and I can pop you in if it is still available.

Hello FurFamily
Due to rising covid and flu numbers, my surgery, scheduled June 4th has been postponed.
This will impact all future bookings and changes will need to be made. Unfortunately, I have no further information at this time.
I will be opening online only Bookings for next week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
If you are making a booking that will impact your future booking, please leave a note for me to make the necessary change.

If you have covid or are unwell, please do not come to the salon. As I am unsure when I will have my surgery, I need to remain covid negative and healthy, so that I can move forward as soon as possible.

I apologise for the inconvenience I know this will cause to many of you and will do my best to accommodate where I can. Unfortunately, I won't be able to take a large volume of calls and messages. For this reason, only online booking will be possible. Once the bookings are full, I won't be able to offer anything more.

For anyone with a future booking, I will update you all as information becomes available to me.

Hello to our beautiful FurFamily and pets of the Riverland 👋

Furology Riverland Pet Grooming will be closed for 2 weeks, starting today and returning Monday 27th November.

I am taking a well deserved break to see my family in Queensland before the Christmas rush begins.

We are fully booked out until February 2024!

While we are away, the phone will take you to message bank. Unfortunately due to a high number of calls for enquiries, I will probably never get through all of the messages.

To make any bookings from February onwards, please use our booking website or give me a call in the salon after the 27th November, during business hours.

Our cancelation list was closed with more than 30 people waiting for an appointment and very few cancelations.

I look forward to picking up the shears and seeing you all real soon.

Important Information and Updates

Hello my beautiful FurFamily! Sorry I have been quiet on this page, I have been super busy in the salon, hanging out with all of my favorite furry creatures! I have some updates and information to share with everyone and thought it would be easiest to post here. There are 5 topics to familiarise yourself with. I apologise for the long post!

1/ PRICING STRUCTURE

From July 1st 2023, there will be an increase and changes to our pricing structure. I have done my best to maintain our pricing over the past 3 years, unfortunately, the time has come for our first ever price increase to assist with the ever-rising cost of running the business. I know times are tough for everyone these days, myself and family included, so I am sorry to be yet another service in your life with a price rise. The change will take place from the 1st of July and will apply to all appointments. I will include a graphic below of the new pricing structure. There are new categories to suit new longer style grooms on very long, thick, curly coats, which can be very time consuming. Also the addition of cheaper options for small short hair baths.

There is a lot of information in the graphic. If you are unsure, please call me. To simplify it for most of our regulars - $60 now $65, $90 now $100, $120 now $135. Long style clips and sc******ng will be moved to the new category and pricing if required. Dogs on 6 weekly or less schedules will be less work and therefore charged a lower rate, according to the time it takes to complete the groom.

Cat grooming is still available but not listed in this graphic.

2/ ENQUIRIES, BOOKINGS AND CANCELLATIONS

The salon is now equipped with a landline telephone which is available during business hours and will take a message out of business hours. This is the best way to contact me for enquiries, bookings and cancellations. The mobile phone number previously used is no longer available. Facebook, Instagram, email, text and google messages will no longer be monitored or responded to.

I have made the swap as I receive a large amount of communication via multiple platforms, and it is not possible to keep up or provide a timely reply this way. I have updated the contact information to include the new number and recommend saving it in your contacts for future reference. 08 7529 8909

3/ CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations are an incredibly frustrating part of running any business. I ask that everyone considers that any no-show or late notice cancellations mean I don’t earn any income for that time. This includes booking in for a full groom and then changing to a bath only, on the day. As a small business, I definitely cannot afford these losses.

Please call the salon to make any changes to your appointment with at least 48 hours notice.

4/ CONFIRMATION TEXTS

Confirmation Texts are sent for every appointment and MUST be replied to with a YES or NO. If we do not receive a reply, we will keep the appointment for you. We do this because many of our clients are elderly and have medical conditions, they rely on carers to reply for them. Not replying is not the same as cancelling your appointment.

No-show, late notice cancellations and same day changes are charged the full cost of the booked appointment. You will not be able to re-book until the fee is paid.

5/ Medical Leave

I will be taking 6 weeks off work due to having a major operation from October 17th until November 28th 2023 the salon will be closed, including phone and online bookings. If you have your dates available, I would like to priorities my regular customers and get you booked ahead of time. I am happy to book you ahead of time, up to the 16th October and then your next appointment from 29th of November. This will help with ensuring nobody gets matted while I'm away and you are first in as soon as I get back.

If you have large breeds, heavy coats or dogs that can be a little bit cheeky for grooming, please try to get them in prior to my leave, I won’t be 100% when I get back, so I would prefer to take it easy in the first couple of weeks, as much as possible.

Hello my beautiful FurFamily

Wow! It has been an extremely busy year! Before we wrap up for the week, we've put together 5 backpacks to assist anyone who is sleeping rough, having financial troubles or generally in need of some help with their doggo.

Each back pack is filled with items to help anyone on the go. A bed roll, portable food and water bowls, treats, food and other useful items.

We are also including a free groom with each back pack if the pet owner would like that.

I will be able to deliver these over the next few days to any Riverland town.

Please reach out if you would like to receive one of our back packs or spread the word so that we can get these to people who need them, in time for Christmas.

Hello everyone!

Wow! It has been an extremely busy time in the salon. We've had considerably less no-shows which is awesome! Thank you to everyone who takes the time to confirm thier booking or get in touch early for cancellations! The system is starting to run very smoothly 👌

A quick note regarding FLEAS

We typically see 2-3 cases of fleas per YEAR in the salon, however, with the wet weather right on spring time, there have been 2-3 cases per week this past month 😳 absolutely no judgement from me, they are sneaky little buggers and not always easy to spot.

We do charge an additional $20 flea surcharge. This helps to cover a complete flea and tick wash to kill all active fleas on the pet immediately and to flea bomb the salon at the end of the day. Once a flea case is identified, the pet is immediately treated. Thr salon is swept and sprayed down with all hair bagged and removed right away. Any pets coming through for the rest of the day are given a flea and tick wash to prevent cross over contamination. At the end of the day, the salon is flea bombed and 2 hours later, I go back to wash, dry and fold all linen and bedding. Sanitise the crates, bath, table and tools to remove any chemicals that aren't pet safe. All floors are swept, vacuummed and mopped. This process takes approximately 4 hours of my evening and adds an additional 10 - 20 minutes to each pet groom for the rest of the day. Plus additional water and electricity.
I charge the minimum to cover the flea bombs and flea and tick wash. I do this because 99% of the time, clients simply didn't know there were fleas and it's an honest mistake. One I've made myself too!

Due to the increase in cases, I would ask that we all take 5 minutes to check for fleas the day before your scheduled groom. Treating them prior to arriving at the salon will save you $20 and make me a happy groomer!

I will share my opinion on flea treatment as a groomer. This is my recommendation for healthy pets with no medical concerns. I 100% recommend consulting your vet for any medical advice for your pets individual needs. I am not trained to, nor will I ever offer medical advice for your pets.

My opinion on over the counter flea treatments is as follows.

Flea and tick wash/ bath - will kill live adult fleas. Will not prevent fleas. Basically the second you walk out of the salon, your pet could pick up a new flea. We use this method in the salon as it ends the cycle instantly and protects other pets within the salon. This is not a long term solution.

Flea collars - they can take 3-4 weeks to start becoming effective. They should not get wet and can cause skin irritation. There's better options in a similar price point.

Spot ons - most of the time they fail because they are incorrectly applied or the pets skin/ coat is not in prime condition for the medicine to work. They are typically 88% effective when used correctly on a pet with healthy skin and coat. They last for up to 1 month. If you struggle to keep your pets still, you're unlikely to apply it correctly and at the full dose.

Oral treatments (tablets) are 99% effective, last for 1 month and are easy to ensure the correct dose is given. This is what I would recommend.

Oral flea treatment is available over the counter at your vet, pet store, big w, Coles and Woolworths. They are reasonably affordable for a basic flea treatment. They can also be included in monthly worming treatments.

I will post below some of the available products and recommend we all consider a regular treatment to prevent fleas over the spring and summer.

It is not necessary, but it would definitely be appreciated by me, but most importantly, your pet.

Again, consult your vet if you have any concerns or need medical advice for your pet.

We have hit our quieter period of the year when the cold weather starts to set in and our fur – parents are a little hesitant to have their regular grooming done. So I wanted to remind everyone that we run our salon at a warm 24 degrees on cooler days with our ridiculously oversized reverse cycle aircon. We also have fresh, warm water, heated to 35 degrees for our bath. We ensure all pets are as dry as possible before going home.

Maintaining regular grooming through the cooler months will help to keep your pets clean and hygienic. There are so many benefits to winter grooming! Including; skin care, healthy coats, no matting, smelling amazing and ensuring your doggo doesn’t require a huge makeover come summer!

With that said, here are our available appointments for May and June, I look forward to filling them up and seeing you all soon!

A quick update: we are still in our covid struggle with 5 out of 6 of us positive, including myself.
I've been super unwell and not actively available for contact. I really do apologise as I know this can be frustrating for everyone.
Hoping to recover in the next few days and getting the calander and bookings sorted for you all.
We will look at opening again from the 24th but will be a slow couple of weeks as I recover fully.
