We have two sanctuaries located in Blackett (Sydney) and Berrima (Southern Highlands). Both locations have a number of animals that have been rescued from various situations and are now permanent residents. We are not a shelter and we do not use cages or kennels. We work with a small group of volunteers who foster kittens/cats, livestock, bunnies, puppies/dogs and birds until they are healthy and

ready for their forever homes. We work closely with a few local pounds by taking in long term residents and animals struggling to cope in a pound environment and placing them in loving foster homes. A large number of our rescue animals have had an unknown past. Their age, breed and history may not be correct. We base all our information off of the previous owners papers/ information or if microchipped, the microchip information. We have all our animals checked by the professionals at one of our vet partners. We couldn’t do what we do without the help of the incredible veterinarians and staff at the below practices:

If we are at capacity and cannot accept any new surrenders we can place your animal on a waiting list or offer our assisted rehoming program. Waiting lists can take weeks to months to get through but our assisted rehoming program can be done instantly. We post the animal to our social media platforms and have interested families contact you directly. The animal must be desexed and microchipped. We ask that you please be patient while waiting for a response as we are a very small team of volunteers, although you can rest assured that we are working hard to get back to you and will respond as soon as we can.

Remember the dogs we rescued after their owners abandoned them in a backyard? Pixie was one of them and she’s finally ready for her forever home 🥰

Pixie is an absolute gem. She’s sweet, gentle, and full of personality. She loves to cuddle, follows her humans around the house, and is just a joy to be around. She was lucky enough to land in a foster home with one of our incredible long term volunteers Marie. Marie, with the help of Pax (ex Green Paws pound rescue) and Patch, have given Pixie a calm space to decompress and show her true colours 💚

She’s fantastic with other dogs, great with cats, and wonderful around kids. She’s crate trained overnight, well mannered in a home environment and has already mastered the doggy door for toilet time. She’s had the odd little accident here and there, but she’s learnt fast and doing so well now.

To be expected she can get a little protective over her food if the other dogs are around, but we assume it’s because she’s always had to compete for food. Lucky her foster brothers don’t mind and she’s now learnt that her bowl is hers and everyone gets their own food and treats.

Pixie is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on flea, tick and worm treatments. Now all she needs is a family to call her own.

This sweet, 13 year girl needs out of the pound and into a loving home 💔

Roxy is friendly, gentle, great with other dogs, and adores human company. All she’s asking for is a warm bed, a calm home, and someone to love her forever. Aside from mild arthritis, she’s in great health and full of love to give.

We’re looking for a foster home, ideally someone open to foster to adopt, so this lovely girl doesn’t have to move around anymore. She deserves to spend her golden years in comfort, surrounded by kindness.

These sweet pups came into our care in an absolutely heartbreaking condition, covered in fleas and needing urgent vet care. But thanks to lots of love, treatment, and support from our amazing community, they’ve bounced back beautifully and are now happy, healthy, and full of sass!

Vaccinated, microchipped, flea/worm treated. A desexing contract will need to be signed to bring them back at 6 months for desexing.

Not a single enquiry. Not one application. 💔
Oreo. Tabasco. Bella.
Three beautiful souls who have waited and waited and are still waiting. No one has asked about them. No one has given them a chance.

Location - Sydney or Southern Highlands

🐶 Oreo – 65 days in our care, 40 days in the pound. That’s 105 days of waiting. He’s only 6 months old, meaning he’s already spent more than half his life hoping for a family. Oreo is dog friendly, kid friendly, livestock and poultry friendly. He’s toilet trained, has great recall, walks beautifully on and off leash, and learns incredibly fast. He’s done everything right he just needs someone to see him.

🐈 Tabasco – The friendliest cat we’ve ever met. Dog friendly, cat friendly, and loves kids.
Affectionate, social, confident, and cuddly, he’s the whole package. Tabasco just wants a family to love, and whoever adopts him will be very lucky.

🐶 Bella – 13 year old Pug who is blind. Gentle, calm, and full of love. She doesn’t need much, just a quiet home and someone to hold her paw through her golden years. She’s dog friendly, but would prefer a calm fur companion. Bella deserves to spend her retirement surrounded by love.

We don’t understand why these three have had no interest. They’re ready. They’re waiting. They just need someone to say yes. 💚

We want to send a huge thank you to every single person who has donated, reached out to foster, or offered to help us wash and care for these dogs this weekend. We are truly overwhelmed by your kindness and support. 🐾

Thanks to you, we’re now aiming to send a few of the pups off to foster homes early next week, where they’ll finally get to experience comfort, safety, and love.

Today we returned to the property to rescue the last remaining dog and it wasn’t easy 💔 He was terrified, hiding under the house, and it took 2.5 hours, three determined volunteers, and a lot of patience to gently coax him out and catch him safely. We were literally crawling around under the house, trying to gain his trust, surrounded by filth and rubbish but we refused to give up on him.

The property was covered in rubbish, and it was heartbreaking to see the conditions these dogs were living in. We also feel deeply for the property owners, who are now left to clean up what was left behind.

The last pup is a male. He’s the father of the three 8 week old puppies and we’re happy to share that he’s now safe at our Berrima sanctuary. His reunion with his pups was absolutely beautiful 🥹💚

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us. These dogs have a long road to recovery, but thanks to your support, their future is already looking brighter.

🚨 URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR ABANDONED AND NEGLECTED DOGS 🚨

A little while ago, we took in three 8-week-old Pomeranian puppies surrendered in one of the worst conditions we’ve ever seen. Their tiny bodies were infested with fleas, and one was in such bad shape she almost lost an eye. 💔

With immediate vet care and countless hours of treatment, we’ve been doing everything we can to help them heal. But now, the situation has escalated and it’s even more heartbreaking than we imagined.

We were informed that the owners of these puppies were evicted and had abandoned three more dogs in the backyard. After speaking with NSW Police and gaining legal clearance and an es**rt, we sent a volunteer to the property to retrieve them.

Sadly on arrival, one of the dogs was found deceased. With the help of the NSW Police, we were able to safely catch one of the surviving dogs. We are returning tomorrow to rescue the final dog who is currently incredibly terrified and not letting anyone close.

These dogs were left to suffer in horrific conditions, and need urgent vet treatment, flea removal, food, and a safe place to recover.

🙏 Here’s how you can help:
We urgently need foster carers with no other animals to give these dogs a quiet, safe space to rest and recover.

Meet Bella A Beautiful 13 Year Old Pug Looking for a Special Retirement Home 🐾

Bella is a gentle, happy little soul who’s ready to live out her golden years in comfort and love. At 13 years old, she’s now blind, so she needs a calm and understanding home that can accommodate her special needs.

Despite her blindness, Bella still has a zest for life and loves being around people. She’s food motivated (as most pugs are!), though she takes her time with meals and does best on soft food or small kibble. Her house training was solid in her younger years, but age has made things a bit harder, so she needs someone patient and prepared for the occasional accident.

💛 Bella’s Ideal Home:
– A quiet environment with a predictable layout to help her move around safely
– Either an only dog or a home with another very gentle, calm dog
– Someone home often who can keep an eye on her and offer her lots of love

She’s a sweetheart who loves cuddles, slow potters around the yard, and just being close to her people. Her spirit is strong, even if her body is slowing down a little.

4 Gorgeous Young Goats Looking for Loving Homes! 🐐

We have had four incredibly sweet, hand raised goats surrendered to us and they are ready to find their perfect paddocks! These friendly little legends were bottle fed and have grown up in a home with kids and other animals.

– Both castrated, dehorned and wormed
– Friendly, cuddly, and used to people

We need your help to find a loving foster to adopt or forever home for an incredibly sweet little soul currently in the pound.

Meet this beautiful 3 month old Border Collie x German Shepherd pup named Kane. While his breed mix usually means high energy and an active lifestyle, this little guy has been diagnosed with a heart murmur. Our vet has estimated his life expectancy to be around 5 to 8 years, though this could vary depending on the care he receives. With the right nutrition, a calm environment, and regular monitoring, he may live even longer.

He deserves to know love, comfort, and stability. Unfortunately if we can’t find him an appropriate home, he will be put to sleep 💔

We’re seeking a foster to adopt situation where we can take him under Green Paws’ wing and support both him and you on the journey.
What he needs:
• A calm, lowkey home.
• Short, gentle bursts of play and exercise, no high energy adventures or strenuous activity.
• A good, nutritious diet to support his health.
• Most of all, someone with a big heart who can give him a happy life, no matter how long or short it may be.

We will support you every step of the way with training, advice, even boarding if needed. You won’t be doing this alone.

Kane may not have the longest life ahead, but with the right person, he can have the best one. Please help us not let his story end in the pound 😔
