This is Dixon, sending a progress report.
My new Humans have been quite easy to train.
It helps that they know how to speak "cat",
But i did have to teach them a couple of new words, from the dialect that my clan uses,
For example, i recognised the cat flap, as soon as i saw it, and i am now allowed to come-and-go, as i please, between my home-base on the back patio, and inside the house. I had to teach them that, if i sit outside the door, on the mat, looking cute, it means that i would like one of them to come out to my patio, so i can show them something,
Perhaps i want to show that my solid-food "lollies" have run out, or, perhaps i want to show that i have dribbled some food into my water bowl, and can i have clean water please, or, perhaps i want to show that i have used the litter, and can it please be "scooped" clean.
Every day, i show them something new.
This morning, my Human-Dad played "soccer" up and down the hallway, with a cute little ball with a "jingle" inside.
Yesterday, i groomed and cleaned behind my ears, and my eyes, for the first time.
The day before, i groomed only my eyes and front paws.
I have been allowed to sleep inside for a few days now. If i want to go to the litter, i can go out through the cat flap. If it is just a "wee", i have a litter inside the back door, which i can use.
When i was first allowed inside, my Human-Dad had put his winter dressing gown on the end of the bed. I added my scent, using my front paws, by doing "biscuits". I like getting up there for snoozes. In the mornings, he has his alarm set, so i get up on his dressing gown a minute or 2 before it goes off, to make sure he doesn't miss the alarm.
Then he gives me breakfast, out on my patio.
There are nice views from my patio, but, when i get up on the patio furniture, so i can see out, i like to have one of my Humans with me, because all the other critters outside can see me, too.
I found a sliding door, into a place called "Ensuite" . .... I have worked out how to slide it open ...... i now hold the cat-speed record for running from one end of the house, to the other end, and back again ....... Because i could 🙂 .....
I also found a nice quiet, cool spot in the main bathroom.
My Humans have a "grooming glove", so i let them brush me with it when i rub up against their legs. It feels nice.
They have given me a nickname, "Dixie", or "Dixie-Boy", i like it, and i respond when they call me, provided they remember to give me either a "lolly", or a nice pat & brush, when i come to them.
I spend most evenings now stretched out, and snoozing, at the feet of my Human-Mum, watching television.
Sometimes, i help my Human-Dad use the "mouse" for his computer.
That reminds me, last week, my Human-Mum gave me a toy mouse, so i 'swiped' it, but it stopped moving, so i left it. A few nights ago, i went out to my patio, and found it, and chased it all around the patio ..... It bounced really well when i swiped it into a wall. ... 😉
Tonight, i was given a new type of Dry Food, called 'Dental Care', it is really good.
I am given lots of different types of 'wet-food' for breakfast and tea, and i am feeling really good, and full of energy. I have some small toy balls, with 'jingles', to chase around the house.
Did my new Humans say they wanted an ADULT cat? ... Oooops ...... 🙂 ..... They are quite good at playing cat games, but i only play for a few minutes, then i go for a snooze.
Today i got a new mat to lay on, called a grooming-mat. I like it, perhaps, later, i may agree to lay on it, so i can be brushed.
