🥳🎉🎆 Happy New Year, Welcome 2025 🎆🎉🥳
We are closed today, re-opening 8:30am tomorrow, 2nd January 2025
🎆We wish everyone a Happy New Year as we bring in 2025 🎆
Please remember that this time of year can be very scary for our fur babies. They don't understand that fireworks aren't going to hurt them.
Some tips to keep them safe tonight
✨ KEEP THEM INSIDE - Don't bring them outside during fireworks. Loud pops and booms could easily scare them and cause your pet to run away.
✨ PROVIDE A QUIET PLACE - Prepare a place that's secure and safe, a quiet room, pet crate or carrier. Somewhere they are already comfortable being. Making it dark and comfortable can help ease them.
✨ DISTRACTIONS LIKE TOYS, TREATS, SOOTHING MUSIC - Treat toys such as Kongs filled with their favourite treats can help distract and sooth them. A game with their toys can help distract them. Along with soothing music can help drown out the noise of fireworks. Even the washing machine running can dull the booms.
✨ MICROCHIPS AND PET ID TAGS - Making sure your pet is identifiable if they do get out is super important. Having your pets microchip details up to date will help the vet, council or rescue group be able to reconnect them with you. A name tag with your number or at a short notice, tape/key tag with number on it on their collar can help as well.
✨ WALK/ENRICHMENT EARLIER IN THE DAY - Dogs will benefit from enrichment walks earlier in the day (when it's cooler). Take them to a big open grassed area, on a long lead (6ft +) and harness and allow them to explore with their noses, let them sniff, wee and explore all the smells, let them 'walk you'. 20 minutes of enrichments exploring is equivalent to a hour of walking. It helps settle the brain, release endorphins. It's basically the 'social media' of the dog world. Your dog will be mentally worn out helping them to rest better during the loud night.
✨ CAT ENRICHMENTS - Cats can be a little harder with enrichments but there is plenty of things you can do at home to help.
