..Australian Fodder Industry Association chief executive Vanessa Curtis said hay prices would not hit “exorbitant levels” as supply and demand fell back into balance.
She said hay which was being made would not necessarily all be sold soon.
“Those growers who are what I call fodder-first or professional hay growers know that sometimes hay needs to be stored for some time, even up to a couple of years, before it can be sold,” Ms Curtis said.
“It doesn’t all have to be sold at the same time there will be plenty of good quality hay around this season.”
She said those who did not usually make hay needed to ensure they produced quality fodder, and storage was part of this....
