**PARVO ALERT**

We're barely at the start of parvo season & we're already seeing numerous posts about animals falling ill.

There have been several cases confirmed to have come from;
Jefferies St, Cessnock
Alkira Ave, Cessnock
Claire St, Cessnock
Tourmaline Dr, Rutherford
Water Works Rd, Rutherford

If you have been in or around these areas, please ensure your dog is up to date with their vaccinations. These need to be done yearly or (up to) every 3yrs. This means, if your dog is 4yrs old and has only had its puppy vaccinations, it is NOT up to date and needs to be done as quickly as possible.

Parvo can live in the ground for several years after the area has been infected.

If you find a stray dog, do NOT take it home to your yard, house or animals as you can be putting them at risk. Please call your local council to see if rangers are available to collect them for you.
Some symptoms to look out for are;
Lethargy
Loss of appetite
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Excessive Salivating
Bloody Diarrhea

If you see these symptoms, please take your dog straight to the vet for a parvo test. The sooner they receive medical treatment, the higher the chances of survival.

Symptoms can take anywhere from 5-14 days to appear. If you think your animal may have come in contact with parvo, please do not walk them until after 14 days of no symptoms. We need your help to stop the spread of the virus.

Please be careful & please please please vaccinate your animals.
