🎶 Thirteen little ducks went out one day…🎶

This flock of ducklings got a bit more than they bargained for when they set off on an adventure, and lost their mum along the way! Luckily a friendly passerby brought them into us to look after until WIRES could collect them. I think they’re pretty pleased with their makeshift pools! 😂

Hot spots are red, skin lesions that appear very quickly and can be found anywhere on a dog’s body. Chaplin the Kelpie was such a good boy while the team at Blakehurst Vet shaved the hot spot on his bottom and gave it a clean it up. He didn't even mind when we placed a cone on his head to stop him from licking it, infact he was so relaxed he took a little snooze on nurse Kiara's lap whilst Dr Catherine got his medication ready.

Freddie is all snuggled up after her dental surgery, and surely feeling a LOT better after having 11 teeth out!

She’s one of the many kitties that get resorptive lesions in their mouths, which means essentially, her body has started to break down the tooth and absorb it.

The cause of this common condition is sadly unknown, but thankfully we are able to treat it and help our feline friends recover.

We offer free dental checks with our nurses, if you have any concerns please give us a ring, or book online!

As we are well and truly into Winter now, you may be noticing signs of arthritis in your pets. These signs can be hard to identify at times as our pets can be great at disguising just how much discomfort they may actually be in.

Treatment can vary, luckily we do have available long acting pain relief options for both dogs and cats. If you are concerned your pet may be suffering with arthritis and to get your pet moving comfortably again call us to book in a consult with one of our vets 😀

Apple came in to see Dr Catherine as she was vomiting, lethargic and not interested in her food. Given that she was a Golden Retriever and typically they love their food, the owner knew this was a problem.

After an examination and further diagnostics, it was confirmed that Apple had an infection in her uterus, otherwise known as Pyometra. This can be a life- threatening issue in un desexed female dogs and cats.

Apple had a big surgery to remove the infected uterus and within 48 hours she was back to her normal self and eating well. Please give us a call if you would like us to discuss with you the benefits of desexing.
